To keep it simple and precise, I believe that I should be awarded the Bank Negara Malaysia

scholarship because I have confidence that I could contribute to the society in any form in the future
and the scholarship award would be the stepping stone to getting closer to my career goal.

From a young age, I have always been quite an indecisive person—timid—in volunteering
myself as someone with a position. I was too shy to step into the spotlight and too self-doubting to
be a leader—a person that everybody relied on to make the decisions. To sum it up, I was afraid to
be a leader because I was sure I would be a failure in the eyes of others. Growing up, I have
eventually realized my mistakes and have regretted passing up opportunities of leadership.

To own up for it, I had decided to join an educational club that hones my English skills and
foster self-confidence in me during Diploma. The participation in English Language Society club as a
Protocol committee had given me the new-found experience that would be useful in future working
environment. The first event I had greatly contributed was titled ‘Speak Up with Cekgu Zec’ which I
had the opportunity to be an emcee along with the help of a senior member. Here, I went out of my
comfort zone and discovered that public speaking is a skill I ought to master. Another event that I
had the pleasure to be a part of as an assistant project leader was a MUET briefing event that my
club organized. It was a successful event though there were some shortcomings to be reflected. I
was able to improved my time management, work out my multi-task skills and improving my
confidence in accomplishing tasks.

Being an accountant has always been my career aspiration which is also the reason why I had
taken a Degree in accountancy and hoping to be a professional accountant in the near future. I had
always respected the accounting field as one of the fields that brings lot of contribution to the
society as a whole. After all, without any accountants, who would translate economics events to
record them into financial statements? Without a doubt, accounting knowledge and skills are
important.

Not only accountants benefit from having the accounting knowledge but there are many users of
information who would gain advantage in comprehending financial report—a reliable financial
information—to make crucial financial decisions. Furthermore, the role of accountant I strived to be
can contribute to the bank is by upholding the integrity, trustworthiness, professional competence
and reliability in all dealings. This is because the bank offers financial services to the nation which
puts the said institution as the highest body of trust in society that requires a prominent level of
professional standard to be maintained. On that note, I would like to end my essay with a thank you
and hope that my scholarship application would be taken into consideration.
