Worksheet Module 1 Post Discussion Questions 1920
Directions: Discuss the following questions with your group then make a
group answer.
1.) How will you respond to the nation’s invitation to engage in community service?
2.) Have you ever experienced participating in any community service project
before? If YES, what was it? What did you learn? If NO, what are the reasons why
you did not engage yourself in any community service project?
Yes. When I was a grade 10 student, I was an active church server. Along
with my Christian brothers and sisters, we were usually organizing a bible study
session or also what we call ‘evangelizing’ in a certain area every single day. The
‘Gawad Kalinga’, our chosen community in Manila, is an exclusive area given by our
government wherein abandoned elders, ill patients are and disadvantaged people
permitted to live without dropping a single penny. It is accustomed in our church to
fund some basic needs aside from bringing the spiritual peace within the
community.
Indeed, food is absolutely essential for everyone for us to function yet the
food from God is what we need to keep going. His undying love makes anyone
strong despite of all the struggles and the pain we have gone through. If you were
well fed by the words of God, you are automatically surrounded by optimism even
at the lowest point in your life. That was the prior lesson I kept in mind up until now.
3.) Cite at least three (3) skills or abilities you possess which may be essential for
community service. Opposite each skill/ability, kindly explain how it may help you
deliver better quality services to the community.
MY SKILL/ TALENT/ ABILITY JUSTIFICATION/S FOR COMMUNITY
SERVICE
Physically and Mentally Fit Being Physically and Mentally fit is a must
for you to spend more time in engaging
stressful and active servicing your
community. There are scenarios which
may challenge myself as a volunteer
substantially when it comes to sudden
calamities. Therefore, with those
characteristics may enhance the quality
for serving my community.
Devotion Helping people because you were only
asked is not bad but committing yourself
in helping people is way better.
Commitment urges me to keep going with
my desire to lend my hand to the
community.
Effective Facilitation Being a leader isn’t just about the skills
but raising the responsibilities in leading
people. However, I may also consider
myself as leader yet I am leader in way
that a bit differ from common leaders out
there. I let my people speak and hear what
they want but instead agreeing their
perception in a certain thing, I usually
weigh the priorities from minor things
beforehand. Coming up with a plan in
closed wall must be avoided. A leader as
the facilitator should also include the
factors beyond the borders. If I were apply
it in serving the community, the essential
need or physiology needs are in the top
priority and unnecessary should
momentarily left behind for me. It is
responsibility of a leader to respond the
prime concern of the community before
anything else.
