This book is dedicated to the strong leaders of the past and
the inspired leaders of the future that made up the first-ever

to thank each and every one of you for all you gave, shared,
and contributed to the class. We wish the best in your

Fellow-Led Classes
Through collaboration,
discussion, and prototyp-
ing, fellows helped co-cre-
ate materials for the
class.
Steve Reifenberg & Tom Schreier - Co-Creation

Designing an Inspired Life: A Co-Created Process is an interactive seminar ap-

plying design thinking (a human-centered, creative, interdisciplinary approach for
re-framing assumptions and solving problems), as well as scientific and leadership
principles, to help individuals thoughtfully and expansively explore who they are,
what they believe, and what they want to do. Through lessons about accompani-
ment, flow, consilience, and a little bit of mindmapping, Tom and Steve set the table
for an amazing and meaningful class.

“The individual presentation allowed me to get
out of my comfort zone, and to share with my
classmates, something of great importance to
myself.”

Fellow Led Classes

Camille Rudge - Creative Confidence

With the first fellow presentation, Camille presented on the impor-

tance of having confidence and a growth mindset. By the end of the
class, we were all able to draw and doodle, proving that anything is
possible with an open mind, and a little creative confidence.
Fellows trying their hand at drawling
through a TED talk by Graham Shaw.

John Graham & Dave Kostolansky- Live Longer

John and Dave took

us on a trip to the blue
zones to help us dis-
cover the secrets to
living a longer life.
With the help of a little
red wine and almonds,
they taught us the im-
portance of social con-
nections and friend-
ships in living long
and healthy lives.
15
Jeff Ko - 30,000 Days

Jeff reminded us that every day in our (hopefully) 30,000 days mat-
ters. It is up to us to find our passion and purpose and work to pur-
sue them. Jeff challenged us to think about what we want to be writ-
ten on our tombstones and gave us tools to make it happen.
17
Ida Watson - Nutrition

Ida focused on Nutrition. Through her own stories of battling with

nutrition, along with advice from Blue Zones and the Bible, we
learned about the importance of nutrition on our health and happi-
ness. Ida concluded her presentation with a diet challenge, to help
guide our journeys with nutrition.
19
Terry Vogt - Meditation

Terry took us to the

prayer room to help
us to discover anoth-
er side of ourselves.
Through meditation,
and insight from
Buddhist Monks, we
learned the impor-
tance of a few re-
flective minutes in
staying happy and
healthy.
21
Tuck Hopkins - Trust Your Gut

Tuck taught us about instinct and intuition, and how they relate to
decision making. We learned of common blind spots and biases that
may affect our decision making and even tested our own gut reac-
tions as we tried to determine which one of our life stories was a lie.
23
Kevin Phelan - Vulnerability

Through a powerful,
personal class, Kevin
taught us that vulner-
ability is not simply
a feeling of shame.
Rather, embraced vul-
nerability is the birth-
place of joy, creativity,
belonging and love.
With a little help from
Brene Brown, Kev-
in taught us a path
to true joy and love
through embracing
discomfort and
vulnerability.
25
Lou Marchioli - Spirituality

Lou took us on a deep

dive into spirituali-
ty. Through the use of
modern medical stud-
ies, ancient writings,
and personal stories,
Lou gave us a clearer
definition of what spir-
ituality is, and how it
relates to our own lives
At the end of class, we
drew pictures to share
how we visualize ideas
such as the soul and
the heart.
27
Maureen Toner & Pat Sigmon - Kindness

Pat and Maureen taught us the importance of kindness in making

our lives, and the lives of those around us better. Through the ex-
ample of Lt. Dan, and Gary Sinise we learned of some truly amazing
acts of kindness. We ended class by taking the time to write notes to
our peers and thank them for all they have done for us.
29
John Madden & Cindy Sescleifer - Loneliness & Solitude

Cindy and John touched on both the importance and dangers of be-
ing alone. Through personal stories and some a great TED talk, we
learned to be alone in the right context, and with the right attitude
can be extremely beneficial to our lives. Yet we also learned, a key to
proper solitude is to have a strong support group nearby.
31
Marty Whalen - Failure

A trip to Marty’s house, an amazing meal, and a little bit of ax throw-

ing taught us a lot about the power and importance of failure. After
burning our failure resumes, we learned it is how we bounce back
from failure, that truly gives us an edge and a path to happiness.

reflection with the cohort,
Reflections and share how they plan
to move forward after the
class.
