2. Reading activity:

Arepa
It looks like a simple meal! But don´t imagine the mix of tastes that

this dish closes over your tongue, the sensation when you visit the city

of Ocaña, it invites us to enjoy this kind of meal in any moment you get

hungry and feel very close as a farmer home! This kind of food is special

and represents the main and healthy dish in this region of Norte de

Santander; because it is the diary meal in almost every day´s meal of the

Provincianos, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner or even like a snack too.

This delicious meal is made mainly by white corn, which is passed through a mill to make the dough

soft for starting to make with a good practice your rounded and plane´s aspect, it is not a simple

arepa; you need to keep in mind the right process with the grandmas of the Ocañeros. You can

cook over a frier pan or sort of “tiesto”, and also cook over firewood, and add butter, cheese and

a dash of salt and it´s ready to serve over the table and you can put near to this a half of

avocado and enjoy with your mate or relative.
