FEBRUARY 2009
Rod MacGregor and Pete von Behrens founded the company on a novel concept
to reduce the cost of solar thermal energy—bring the solar collectors indoors.

Secured Initial Funding

SEPTEMBER 2010
Secured financing from Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital to pursue the global
enhanced oil recovery (EOR) industry.

Commissioned World’s First Solar EOR Project

FEBRUARY 2011
Commissioned the world’s first solar EOR project in Kern County, California,
U.S.A. with Berry Petroleum.

Established Regional Headquarters in Oman

FEBRUARY 2012
Shortly after being awarded a pilot project with Petroleum Development Oman
(PDO), GlassPoint opened its first office in the Middle East in the Sultanate of
Oman. Our CEO and CFO are now based in Muscat.

Completed PDO Pilot On Time and On Budget

DECEMBER 2012
Completed construction of the PDO pilot on time and on budget with zero Lost
Time Injuries (LTI). First steam was produced on December 12, 2012.

Secured Investment from Royal Dutch Shell

DECEMBER 2012
Royal Dutch Shell invested in GlassPoint along with leading energy investors
RockPort Capital, Nth Power and Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital.

Expanded to Kuwait
MARCH 2014
Expanded to Kuwait with a local office and appointed KOC veteran Hussain
Shehab as Country Chairman.
 State General Reserve Fund of Oman became
Major Shareholder
SEPTEMBER 2014
State General Reserve Fund and Royal Dutch Shell co-led US$53 million equity
investment in GlassPoint.

Awarded Contract for 1 Gigawatt Solar Plant

JULY 2015
After a successful pilot, PDO awarded GlassPoint a contract to build Miraah, a
1,021 MWth solar facility at the Amal field. Miraah will be one of the world’s largest
solar plants.

Broke Ground at Miraah

NOVEMBER 2015
Miraah consists of 36 greenhouse blocks built in a sequence. PDO can begin
solar steaming as soon as a block is completed, ramping production to meet
the oilfield’s steam demand.

First Steam Delivered at Miraah

NOVEMBER 2017
Miraah successfully delivered first steam to Amal West oilfield safely, on schedule
and on budget. The project is in daily operations, with steam output ramping up.

Inked Deal to Build California’s Largest Solar

Energy Project
NOVEMBER 2017
Aera Energy selected GlassPoint to build an integrated solar project, including
an 850 MW solar thermal facility and 26.5 MW solar electric facility, to power
operations at its Belridge oilfield.

Miraah Officially Inaugurated

FEBRUARY 2018
GlassPoint and PDO officially inaugurated the Miraah solar plant under the
patronage of H.E Salim Al Aufi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil & Gas.
