INTRODUCTION

The title of our project is “RFID based VEHICLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM”. Today
vehicle management is a very important field of research. It has many
scopes which include transportation cost management in industries,
tracking of missing or suspicious vehicles, smart parking systems and
surveying purpose.

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. It basically contains three

major components
 RFID Reader

 RFID Tag

 Server (to store and manage data)

RFID reader reads the tag which is unique to each vehicle and sends the
data to server.

OBJECTIVE & SCOPE

RFID based Vehicle Management system delivers the flexibility,
scalability, and responsiveness that today's organizations need. It
provides accurate, up-to-minute information, high- speed communication,
and powerful analysis features required to make better decisions faster.

The major potential comes from the much acclaimed no line of sight and
simultaneous reading properties of RFID. It is now widely recognized that
real – time vehicle information will revolutionize the control and logistical
organization with significant vehicle fleets.

2/4
In a global marketplace where productivity is crucial to success, vehicle
fleet operators use vehicle management systems as a formidable tool to
drive down costs and increase the value of their service.

PROPOSED APPROACH

In this system we intend to use a 433 MHz active RFID as reader. Also specially designed
vehicle tag are used which will be placed either on window pane or vehicle wheel. Since its
active RFID so it’s independent of orientation or alignment. Whenever a vehicle passes
through checkpoint the detector on pole detects the tag placed on vehicle. Every tag is unique
to the vehicle and contains unique ID of the vehicle. With each passing vehicle the computer
server stores the data of entry and exit of registered vehicles in premises of a building. This
will not only help to keep tabs of vehicles but also smart parking system can be designed
over it. It will also help in cost management, detection of suspicious or missing vehicles and
surveying purposes.

REQUIREMENTS

 433 MHz active RFID reader

 Vehicle Tags
 Arduino microcontroller

OUTCOME

3/4
The outcome will be a RFID based vehicle management system which is able to detect
vehicles pre-installed with vehicle tags which are unique to that vehicle.
