II. Cherry Bomb
a. Tyler’s 4th studio album which released April 13, 2015 and has stated it is his
personal favorite album from his discography. The entire album was produced by
Tyler.
b. The album’s tone is Tyler’s happiest and most positive tone. When it was
released, it favored with the critics, but less so with fans.
c. The album has many features from variety of influential artist including
Schoolboy Q, Toro y Moi, Kali Uchis, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Pharrell
Williams, etc.
III. Critics
a. One reason fans didn’t favor Cherry Bomb is they felt they couldn’t relate to
Tyler anymore. In his previous work, his albums’ tones were darker and talked
about going through tough times, while Cherry Bomb is Tyler expressing his
newfound success and happiness going along with that.
b. Tyler defends his album “Why can’t I share my joy with the world? ... all I’m
doing is spreading good vibes and tryna give some confidence to people and at
least telling them they can accomplish something”
