My Creation: The process
This painting I created uses the female character, Venus, from Claudio Bravo’s
1979 Venus (Private Collection), on top of the background inspired by artist
Kehinde Wiley’s David Lyon. Both of these artist are 20th century contemporary
artists and I chose them because I thought I could create an interesting piece of
work by combining both of their styles.
Which time period did you select and why? I chose the contemporary art period of
the 20th century because I felt that I could relate more of my passion to this time
period of which i was born in.

What did you learn about this era, and how well do you feel you represented the
artists who worked during that time? I had visited the San Antonio Museum of Art,
and fell in love with these two artist’s work and decided I wanted to combine them
because I loved them separately and wanted to love them together. I feel I
accurately represented their work, though I should have added additional details in
the background to represent the artist better.

If you could have a conversation with an artist of this time, who would pick and
what would you ask? I would pick to have a conversation with Picasso. And ask
what insipred his cubism work and why not any other shapes?
