2 of our 3 Teams got the title of 'WINNER' for the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) - 2019

C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) has set-up its 12th centre at our institute, and
it happens to be the only one in North-East India.

Also, we are proud to announce that NIT Silchar has been awarded the BEST ENGINEERING COLLEGE IN
EASTERN INDIA by leading Industry Body ASSOCHAM for the second consecutive year in the National
Education Excellence Awards 2015.

The institute also has achieved 10 out of 10 in the performance assessment of TEQIP-II institutes across
the country and among the top 4 NITs to score so, crossing all the odds being in the NE region.

TEDxNITSilchar was organised for the second time in the history of NIT Silchar this year. With six
fantastic speakers the TEDxNITSilchar event was a huge success with the tagline 'A Positive Slope'.

NIT Silchar has also been ranked the 11th best Govt. Engineering College in India in a survey by
DataQuest (2018).

We were ranked 31st by Outlook and 26th by Edu Rand in their annual survey for Best Technical
Institute.

We have also featured among the top 50 engineering colleges in the Weeks Survey for best Engineering
Colleges of 2017.
Participation of our students ( 3 Teams ) in the regional and proud achievement of one of our teams to
reach the Indian Finals in ACM-ICPC 2017. Moreover, our students have many open source contributions
for various organisations like GitHub, openEdx, Apache Allura to name a few.
