Dear Sir,
In TFIN 52, unit 3, page 125, Figure 47. Can you explain me in the figure how an amount of 700 arises as
Value Adjustment?
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
Dear Sir,
Can you please explain me the Figure 25 in TFIN 52, unit 2, page 66?
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
In certain cases, an asset that needs to be shifted from one cost center to another or there is an
asset shut down that can have a direct effect on depreciation and also for the purpose of reporting and
valuation needs, Time dependent data is maintained. For example, assignment of an asset to a cost
center (A) for 1st half of the year and cost center (B) in the 2nd half of the year using the help of time
interval by entering the date/period in the asset master record.
Dear Sir,
In TFIN 52, unit 2, page 65, Can you please explain me what's Evaluation groups and why it is leveled
between 1 and 5?
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
Evaluation groups are another option for classifying assets for reports or user-defined match
codes. You can use 5 different evaluation groups (four with 4 characters, and one with 8 characters). You
can assign each asset to the appropriate category of the evaluation groups.
More over for the purpose of reporting, the reports carry a selection field in which the evaluation group
must be entered to get the data for the asset classification of the business place.
Dear sir,
In TFIN50 part 2, unit 2, page 47, last second para, can you tell expansion for APC (negative APC Values)
and the meaning for the same.
Thanks
Dear Krishnakumar
In case of Special Asset class take for example assets under construction are fully capitalized/settled;
you can still enter the Credit Memos. For this to happen you need to tick/permit Negative APC values in
the Depreciation data section.
You will clearly understand this concept when you are doing the exercises.
Dear sir,
I request you to provide me the Mail ID for clarifying the doubts regarding SAP Certification.
Thanks
Dear Krishnakumar,
For any queries regarding SAP certification (question pattern, marking system, topics weightage), please
visit www.sap.com/education or else you can also mail to Tulasi Ram at tulasi.ram@sap.com.
Dear sir,
(TFIN50, part 2, unit 3, page 174 in book) could you please explain me, in the figure which amount is to
be dunned..
Hi Krishnakumar,
With reference to your query, in the Fig: 72 clearing with credit memos or vendor items
If you have chosen to clear the due net debit items with the due net credit items, then as per the figure
given you Dun the remaining 700 with the highest dunning level.
If you have chosen to clear between customer and vendor, as per the figure given, the remaining
balance 500 is dunned with highest dunning level.
Dear sir,
In TFIN50, part 2, unit 1, Fundamentals, I could see that bank master records are created at Client level,
and i can see that "in case of house banks, data such as House bank ID and Communication data are
stored at company code level". This confuses me. Please explain me in detail.
Thanks.
Dear Krishnakumar,
House bank data such as house bank Id, communication data which is company code specific differ from
company code to company code, hence they are stored at company code level.
Can you please explain in detail what a Year-Independent Fiscal year Variant is and the concept of
"indicator -1 or +1?"
Dear student,
The fiscal year variant is called year-independent: if each fiscal year of a fiscal year variant uses the same
number of periods, and the posting periods always start and end at the same day of the year.
1 calendar year
The posting periods are equal to the months of the year. Therefore a calendar year variant must have 12
posting periods, and we cannot define the beginning and end of period because it always begins on
January 1st and ends on December 31st every year.
2 non-calendar year
The posting periods are not equal to the months of the year. The posting periods need to be defined by
assigning ending dates to each period. A non-calendar year can have between 1 and 16 posting periods.
If the non-calendar year does not start at January 1st the periods of the year which belong to the former
or the coming fiscal year must get an annual displacement indicator (-1, +1)
Dear Sir,
Posting period is a period within a fiscal year, such as a particular month, for which SAP transaction
figures are updated. Every SAP transaction that is posted is assigned to a particular posting period. The
transaction figures are then updated for this period.
Can you please explain me in detail what is Internal number assignment and external number
assignment.
Dear Krishnakumar,
Internal number assignment are assigned by the system, with internal number assignment, the system
always assigns the next number available in the range to the account. With the internal number
assignment, you can display the current number.
External number assignment is entered by the user who creates the record. External numbers may be
alphanumeric. The user chooses the account number. Numbers do not have to be assigned in sequence,
therefore, a current number cannot be displayed.
Also i would like to tell that you should not post multiple questions in the same query. Per query you are
supposed to post only one query. Kindly remember this while posting the query in future.
Can you please explain me in detail about Variant Principle and its use.

Dear Sir,
In TFIN50 part 1, Page 205, Figure 87, can you please me the figure in detail .
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
Passive splitting is something that you do not have control over. System takes the document splitting
characteristics from the original document.
Document splitting characteristics for General Ledger Accounting is as relevant as it is for the balance
sheet. If the balancing dimensions in a document do not produce a balance of Zero, the system creates
additional clearing items that ensure zero balance. You can create then balance sheets for these
document splitting characteristics.
If your issue is resolved, kindly close the query at your end.
Regards,
FISME
can you please tell me whether one document split comprises of those three steps.
Dear Krishnakumar,
With reference to your query, a document will comprise of only 2 steps that is, either 1 & 3 or 2 &3. If
you receive a payment against any invoice, it uses passive split along with zero balance indicator to
make the document splitting characteristics zero. For other documents, it processes using customized
splitting rules (rules explained in Figure 89) and zero balance indicator is common for both the splits. If
you still have doubts, kindly propose a date and time convenient to you for adobe session, we will
resolve your doubts.
Regards,
FISME.
Dear Sir, I clearly understand now, can you please tell me one example document for Active Split. Then
I’ll be very clear.
Dear Krishnakumar,
You can go through Figure 85, wherein you can see the invoice with multiple expense line items debited
to advert. Costs, Purchase Services and input tax and Credited to Vendor (Miller Inc) in entry view. This
is split according to the splitting rule which is shown in General Ledger view. Split according to the
splitting rules defined in customizing is Active Split
If your doubt is clear, kindly close the query at your end.
Regards,
FISME.
Dear Sir,
In TFIN 50 part 1, page 289, figure 125, can you please explain me the figure in detail.
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
SAP can post inter-company accounting documents by direct or indirect specification of other
company codes. For example, you can enter a different company code in a line item when posting a
manual journal entry in another company code; or if a vendor invoice is posted in one company code,
you can pay for that invoice from a different company code.
In a cross-company code transaction, the system posts a separate document with its own document
number in each of the company codes. Individual documents are linked by a common cross-company
code number. The system generates line items automatically (receivables and payables arising between
company codes) in order to balance the debits and credits in each document.
Hence, for cross-company code transaction, you create clearing accounts to display receivables and
payables between individual company codes.
Hope this answers your doubt. Kindly close the query if your doubt is resolved.

FISME
Dear Sir,
In TFIN 50 part 1, Page 312, Figures 130,131,132. Can you please explain me precisely the difference
between Post with Clearing and Account Clearing with an example because both looks alike but it seems
there is a difference?
Thanks
Dear Krishnakumar,
With reference to the query, in both post with clearing and account clearing, you can select and clear
multiple open items. Only difference is, In post with clearing, if the total amounted selected open
items is not equal to clearing amount, it allows you to post the difference. for ex. You have clearing
amount 5000 and open items are 4800, you can post the difference of 200, where as in account
clearing, the total amount of open item must be zero, difference not allowed to be posted.
Regards,
FISME.
Dear Sir,
In TFIN 50, part 1, page 341&342, figure 144, Can you please explain me the Figure in detail especially
the last but one bulleted paragraph?
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
Tolerance limits are defined separately for users (employees) and business partners (customers and
vendors). The system checks both limits when clearing open items. The lowest limit always has priority.
For example: For one of your customers you set a maximum amount of $2 for adjusting the cash
discount amount when a payment difference occurs. For the accounting clerk that processes this
customer account, however, you set a maximum amount of $1. If differences occur when this clerk
clears items from this customer account, the system can adjust the cash discount amount only up to a
maximum of $1.
Hope this explanation clears your doubt. Kindly close the query if your doubt is resolved.
Regards,
FISME
Dear Sir,
In TFIN 50 part 2, page 280, figure 113&115, Can you please explain me in the figures what is old
month/year and new month/year with an example.
Dear Krishnakumar,
With reference to your query, Old month is nothing but closing of accounts for the month. Say for ex.
January 31, you close the month with postings from HR, MM and SD modules and analyze Profit & Loss
and Balance Sheet for the period and reports are created for January. New month is February 1, the
balances from January will be carried forward to the next month by opening new month, balances of
customers/vendors are transferred and closing stock valuations are transferred from MM.
In Fig. 115, the same procedure is carried out for full year. Kindly revert if you still have doubts.
Regards,
FISME
Dear Sir,
In TFIN52, page 39, figure 12, can you explain me the last 4th paragraph's last line, "It is recommended
that you define as many asset classes as you have assets with different types of valuation"
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
It is recommended to create as many asset classes possible with different types of valuation is
because when you create an asset master record for a particular asset; this data is automatically copied
from the asset class you specify. By entering the default values, you can reduce the time and effort
needed to create new asset master records.
Regards,
FISME
Dear Sir,
In TFIN52, page 17, figure 6, can you please explain me what is an "Internal Order" and Activity type.
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
Internal Order is an instrument used to plan, collect, and settle the costs of internal jobs and tasks.
The SAP system enables you to monitor your internal orders throughout their entire life-cycle; from
initial creation, through the planning and posting of all the actual costs, to the final settlement and
archiving.
Activity type are required for internal activity allocation and serve as tracing factors for costs and can be
used to measure the internal activities, to enter them manually, automatically, or indirectly based on
final costs, and to allocate them.
It classifies the specific activities and data structures that are provided by one or more cost centers
within a company.
For example: Number or quantity of units produced, hours, machine productivity, etc.
Kindly close the query if your doubt is cleared.
Regards,
FISME
Dear Sir,
In TFIN 50 part2, page 453, figure 199, can you please explain me what is the Superordinate Org. level
and also the last 3rd paragraph?
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
Superordinate Org. level is one of the settings in the organizational hierarchy that have been
defined based on the configuration of the systems during closing cockpit procedure. Superordinate Org.
level is the highest of the hierarchy level.
+----------Company code
+----------Profit center.
Kindly refer to figure 198 of page 452 for further understanding on Organizational hierarchy.

Dear Sir,
Thats very clear. can you please tell me the meaning for the term "Initial Node" in the same figure (199)
Reply by: SME Date: 30-08-2011 Time: 08:03:41
Hi Krishnakumar,
An initial node is the typical starting point for an activity. For example, to open a notepad in MS
windows, we choose Start--------> Programs--------->Accessories--------->Notepad. Start button would be
an initial node.
In SAP, if you do not define the hierarchy organizational level, the organizational object is only available
in Initial node.

Hi Krishnakumar,
The Closing cockpit enables you to create a structured interface for executing transactions and
programs that form part of complex processes, such as closing processes. The structural layout supports
processes within an organizational structure, such as within the company code, as well as scenarios
affecting multiple organizational structures.
c) The activities are performed within a process that has a fixed chronological sequence
d) The activities need to be supported by a shared, uniform interface for all involved.
e) The status of all periodic activities that needs to be documented and made available for all involved.
Continued.......
Continued.....
The Closing cockpit enables you to optimize your process flows by using its event-driven organization of
activities, its overview and monitoring options, as well as analysis tools, all of which cover the entire
process.
As per your query on the color code status, The Monitor is one of the Closing cockpit process activities.
It shows a graphical representation of the critical paths as well as the processing periods and processing
sequence with their respective dependencies.
Hope this clears your doubt. Kindly close the query if your doubt is cleared.

Dear Sir,
In TFIN50 part 2, page 462, figure 209, Can you please explain me the Difference for “Processor and
Person Responsible”.
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
List display is one of the closing process in the Closing cockpit structure. It displays all the tasks to
be managed or executed from the respective task list are made available for processing or for
monitoring task progress.
Under the List display, it shows you the detailed view of the,
1) Name and Description, 2) Report name and variant name, 3) Processor and person responsible, and 4)
Start time and end time.
As per your query on Processor and person responsible, Under List display, you can identify the
processor and the person responsible for that particular task in the Closing cockpit process.

Hi Krishnakumar,
A spool request contains which data is to be printed and how this data should be printed.
Job Log: All message types issued by a program running in the background are stored in a job log, which
you can display either to obtain information on a prematurely terminated program or to complete a
detailed investigation of a particular background processing run. A separate log file is created for each
job.
Batch Input Session is an intermediate step between internal table and database table. Data along with
the action is stored in session. Ex; data for screen fields, to which screen it is passed, program name
behind it, and how next screen is processed. Batch input is used for bulk data transfers.

Dear Sir,
In TFIN50 part 2, page 465, figure 212, Can you please explain me the meaning for the line, “You can
insert user decisions for testing purposes”.
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
The flow definition is a graphical summary of several steps. A step in the flow definition
corresponds to a task in the task plan, except that the individual step does not appear directly in the
task plan, rather it is displayed in the flow definition, which is included in the task plan.
As with regards to your query, the sentence "you can insert user decisions for testing purpose" means
that you can include your own transaction/program directly in the task plan so that it can be used in
flow definitions(workflows) and you can see the processing status in the monitor.

Dear Sir,
In TFIN50 part 2, page 336, figure 145, Can you please explain me the meaning for the line, “Foreign
Currency accounts are valuated by Balance”.
Thanks
Dear Krishnamurthy,
With reference to your query, as per the figure 145, the foreign currency balance sheet accounts are
valuated as part of the foreign currency valuation.
I.e. The balance, that is ,the foreign currency balance of the G/L account managed in a foreign currency,
forms the basis of the valuation for each foreign currency and foreign currency balance sheet account.

Thanks
Dear Krishnamurthy,
With reference to your query, as per the figure 195, shows you how you define the ledger groups
As per 4th line, when defining the ledger group the Document types must be defined for entry view in
one ledger (Non leading ledger) in customizing in the Ledger Group, so that you can display this one
ledger in the general ledger view.
In short to view the ledger in general ledger view, document types must be defined in any one of the
non leading ledger.

Thanks
Dear Krishnakumar,
With reference to your query, the figure purely explains about valuation in foreign currency posted to
Controlling (CO). You can define a revenue account from currency valuation as Cost element. If this is
done, in Controlling, if there is revenue from valuation of foreign currency, the cost will be reduced in
the CO object, with reduction in the payables (vendors’ reconciliation a/c). The cost element 230010
will not show any balances because the revenue has been transferred to Controlling.

Dear Sir,
In TFIN50 part 2, page 335, figure 143&144, in the figure 144, I could see that valuation difference is 480
local currencies that posted to Exchange rate Diff Account in the local Currency itself. But in the previous
figure 143, last Para says “the system posts the account entries for realized exchange rate diff in foreign
currency during the OI clearing”. Please clarify me.
Thanks
Reply by: SME Date: 31-08-2011 Time: 12:26:01
Dear Krishnakumar,
Fig 143, explains about the account entries for realized exchange rate differences in foreign currency
during the open item clearing (line item wise), that is during receiving/making the payment whereas fig.
144 explains the valuation of foreign currency Balance Sheet accounts as a whole. If you have 10 foreign
customers, whole balance will be valuated and difference will be debited to unrealized gain/loss on
foreign currency valuation and credited to balance sheet adjustment account on key date and reversed
on the first day of the next month.
In Fig 143, you are evaluating the foreign currency during payment, hence the accounts debited is
realized loss/gain on FCV. For ex. Customer balance is say 1000 eur. and value in Foreign currency on
payment date is 800. You receive payment of 800 eur. There is a loss of 200 eur. Entries will be Bank
a/c. dr. 800, Loss a/c. dr. 200, customer a/c Cr.1000.

Dear Sir,
In TFIN52, page 90, figure 34, can you please explain me the last second para, especially the meaning of
capitalization of goods or services.
Thanks
Hi Krishnakumar,
Capitalization of goods and services means to turn a cost into an asset rather than expense. For
example, costs for business startup are considered long term costs, rather than expenses for only one
year, so they are capitalized. If a cost is capitalized, it shows up on the balance sheet as an asset.
Kindly close the query if your doubt is cleared.

Dear Sir,
In TFIN52, page 178, figure 66, can you please explain me calculations of the tables in the figure.
Thank You
Dear Krishnakumar,
In Fig.66 says, an asset was acquired and it's useful life was assumed as 5 years. After 2 years, you
realized its useful life is only 3 years. If you use depreciation calculation without the option of a Time-
dependent definition of the change, as acquisition year is ended, only 2000 is charged as depreciation
(10000 / 5 years) for first year. As second year is still open and you know the asset has only 3 years
useful life, remaining 8000 is distributed among 2 years i.e., 4000 each.
If you use time-dependent parameters with SAP, the system will take 2000 each for first and second
year and balance 6000 completely is charged for 3rd year.

In TFIN52, page 207, figure 75, can you please clarify me whether the number range interval is Internal
number assignment or external number assignment for document type here, because in book no such
details (in figure, it seems internal no. assignment) provided but in the e-learning(TFIN52>Periodic
processing and valuation>Page 30) it says external number assignment.
Also can you please tell me whether these types of questions can come for certification, if so, how we
should prepare, only book content is enough or this e-learning content is also needed.
Thanks
Dear Krishnakumar,
Please kindly try to understand the concept of assigning internal or external document number range
and its effects on the documents. You need not worry about the difference between the slides and
book. Just understand, if external number assignment is selected, you can give the number and if
internal is selected, system generates the numbers.

Dear Krishnakumar,
The handbook what you are having is the Bible, Geeta and Quran for you. Just read what is there in the

questions will be from your books only. Do not worry too much, read the books, be confident and you
will succeed in your Certification exam. We wish you very best of luck for your exams.

If your query is been resolved, kindly close the query at your end.

Hi,
In TFIN52, page 361, figure 137, can you please tell me in the figure, what is the 555 and 333
corresponds to..
Thanks
Krishnakumar
Hi Krishnakumar,
In the figure 139 of page 363 - Noted items, 555 and 333 is just an amount for both the
customer invoice. As you can see the total amount of 888 in the reconciliation account in the same
figure.
The amount of 10000 is just a down payment request (noted item) and is only a reminder and has
no bearing on customer invoice balance.

Hi,
In TFIN52, page 367, figure 144, can you please clarify me in the last point (4) last sentence, whether a
Special G/L account is used or not since in book it is no, where as in e-learning (page 24 of unit Special
G/L Transactions) it is yes.
Thanks
Krishnakumar
Hi Krishnakumar,
When the receivables are doubtful or disputed, they are entered as individual value adjustments
and you use special GL account (Individual Value Adjustments for Receivables). Only when you are able
to ascertain that the receivable is uncollectable, it is posted to the Expenses for uncollectible receivables
account hence no special GL account is used.
The explanation given in the e-learning is only an error. But the rest of the explaination was correct.

Hi,
In TFIN50_2, Unit 1, can you please give me an example for Translation ratios.
Thanks
Krishnakumar
Hi Krishnakumar,
Translation ratios are ratios defined for each currency pair and each exchange rate type, for
translating one currency into another using exchange rate. For example, say, you have two currencies,
USD and JPY and, say, the translation ratio between the two is 1:100. The exchange rate, in this case, is
represented as 1USD=100x0.0120JPY in exchange rate table, in SAP system. Please note that a higher
translation ratio is maintained due to one currency being weak in comparison to other.

Hi,
In TFIN50_2, page 328, figure 136, can you please clarify me in the figure, the line “no need to act for
GCC – Key word: Lowest value principle”
Thanks
Dear Krishnakumar,
With reference to your query, basically you need to do foreign currency valuation for international
valuation areas only (e.g.: IAS/IFRS/U.S GAAP) and not for local valuation area for the rules of German
Commercial Code., if the valuation is run with lowest value principle. This explanation is for Fig.136.
When there is no valuation carried out for local valuation area, you need not post any amount and post
only "0” for the corresponding valuation area. This is what, is explained in the last paragraph for
fig.138.
This reply answers you both queries bearing no.00059016 and 00059017.

Hi,
In TFIN50_2, page 346, figure 148, can you please explain me the calculations.
Thanks
Dear Krishnakumar,
In Value adjustment key 01, the debit percentage is 2% if the customer open item is overdue by 30 days,
and 3% for 60 days. Customer A has open item 2000 which is overdue by 30 days and Value adjustment
should be 2% i.e., 60 and for item 10000 which is overdue by 60 days, the value adjustment should be
3% i.e., 300.
Do not get confused by the amount 20 & 200 shown in the figure.

Hi,
In TFIN 50_2, page 398, figure 170, can you please explain me the term Summarization and why it is
used.
Thanks
Summarization is nothing but a type of document lines that are generated in the accrual engine.
You define if and in what form you want to summarize data when transferring accrual postings to
Accounting.
There are 3 types of summarization where one can make the settings for posting control in accrual
engine.
1) No Summarization: A document line is created in the Accounting document for each accrual item and
accrual type in the Accrual Engine.
2) Summarization to accrual object level: As few document lines as possible are generated in Accounting
for each accrual object.
3) Maximum summarization: When documents are created for Financial Accounting, the maximum
amount of Accrual Engine data is summarized for per accounting document. Independently of this,
further summarizations can be activated in the individual receiver components in Accounting to which
the documents are posted.
