INTRO

The COVID-19 outbreak has taken its toll on over 164,000 people worldwide.

Among these cases list notable public figures, celebrities, and politicians—proving that
this pandemic spares no one.

Some of them are…

TOM HANKS and RITA WILSON

Popular Hollywood actor Tom Hanks announced on March 11 that he and his wife,
actress Rita Wilson, tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Hanks, 63, said he and Wilson came down with a fever while in Australia, where he is
reportedly filming a new movie about the life of Elvis Presley.

Hanks first shared the news on Instagram that he and his wife tested positive for
coronavirus last week.

"We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that
came and went. Slight fevers too," Hanks wrote in his initial post.

"To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the
Coronavirus, and were found to be positive."

Hanks is the first major Hollywood star to publicly state that he has the virus that is
sweeping around the world.

The couple were in isolation and in stable condition as of March 15.

RUDY GOBERT

Gobert was the first NBA player to test positive for the coronavirus, and as early as a
few days prior to his test was mocking the sickness.

His positive test is what led the NBA to suspend its 2019-2020 season.
The All Star center issued a statement after his positive test.

"The first and most important thing is I would like to publicly apologize to the people
that I may have endangered," he wrote.

"At the time, I had no idea I was even infected. I was careless and make no excuse."

On Saturday, the Jazz announced that Gobert was donating more than $500,000 to
support the employee relief fund..

for Vivint Smart Home Arena and coronavirus-related social services in Utah, Oklahoma
City and the French health-care system.

Gobert’s diagnosis caused a viral stir after a video was released of him touching
multiple microphones at a press conference.

Gobert has since updated the public on his condition.

DONOVAN MITCHELL

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell has also tested positive for the novel coronavirus,
hours after the network identified teammate Rudy Gobert as the first NBA player to
test positive for the virus.

In an interview with Good Morning America on Monday, Mitchell said he is

"asymptomatic."

"I could walk down the street. If it wasn't public knowledge that I was sick, you
wouldn't know it," he added. "I think that's the scariest part about the virus—you may
seem fine, be fine, and you never know who you may be talking to, who they're going
home to."

The Utah Jazz guard released a 30-second video clip via NBA.com on Saturday,
updating his condition after testing positive for the coronavirus on Thursday.

“I just want to say thank you guys for your continued support. It means a lot to me. I
feel fine. Things are going well. I’m just taking the proper precautions,” Mitchell said.
“As was told to me by the health authorities I’ve got to stay in isolation, so I’m solo in
here, playing video games all day and I can’t wait to get back out there on the floor
and play in front of the best fans in the world. I really miss playing in front of you guys
and I’ll see you guys soon.”

coronavirus.

“I can confirm I have tested positive for coronavirus… and have been self-isolating at
home,” said the Conservative MP.

notifiable disease, meaning companies could obtain insurance cover, said the paper,
adding she was now believed to be on the road to recovery.

“I would like to thank… the wonderful NHS staff who have provided me with advice
and support,” she said, referring to Britain’s National Health Service.

hospitalized after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.

Grainge joined Universal more than 30 years ago and has been chairman and CEO

MIGUEL ZUBIRI

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri has tested positive for coronavirus disease.

Zubiri confirmed this Monday night, after Health Secretary Francisco Duque informed
him of the test result.

“To my dear fellow Filipinos, my kababayans (countrymen). It is with sadness that I

announce that I am positive for COVID-19. I had a test taken last Friday while on self-
quarantine and this afternoon I received a call from Sec. Duque on my condition,”
Zubiri told reporters in a text message.

“My heart sank with what he had said but I’m uplifted with the fact that I am
asymptomatic and have no fever or cough nor am I weak or have any headaches,” he
added.

Zubiri said he will continue to be “locked in isolation” for 10 more days until he gets
checked again.

“Hopefully, [with] a negative result, I hope my coming out will show how dangerously
infectious this virus is,” he said.
