Mga pulitiko nagluksa sa pagpanaw ni ‘Nene’ Pimentel

Bumuhos ang pakikiramay ng iba’t ibang opisyal ng bansa sa biglang pagkamatay ni

dating Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr. kamakailan dahil sa sakit na
‘lymphoma’ o cancer sa immune system.

Sa isang pahayag, nagpasalamat ang Malacañang sa kanyang napakahaba, walang

takot at tapat na pagseserbisyo sa publiko.

Sabi naman ni Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, “He would forever be

etched in our history as a giant among his peers who championed democracy and
electoral reform and visionary who espoused devolution of powers and strong local
governance.”

Kinilala naman ni Vice President Leni Robredo ang naging ambag ni Pimentel sa
pagtataguyod ng karapatang pantao.

Ani niya, “His long and storied career as a statesman is replete with moments of moral
courage as he stood firm against the oftentimes cruel realities of politics and history.”

Para naman kay Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, malaking kawalan sa
Mindanao at sa buong bansa ang pagpanaw ni Pimentel.

Ani niya, “He is one of those I consider as one of the great pillars of our country’s
democracy in the last 50 years.”

Inalala naman ni Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian ang pagtaguyod ni Pimentel sa Local

Government Code of 1991.

Ani niya, “Because of his landmark measure, the Local Government Code of 1991,
Pimentel has empowered LGUs across the country by allowing them to create their own
source of revenue and enable them to levy taxes and fees, among others.”

At habang nagbibigay ng pagkilala at karangalan sa respetado at may malakas na loob

na mambabatas ay nanawagan naman ng panalangin si Sec. Panelo sa taumbayan na
ipagdasal ang namayapang dating senador.
Ani niya, “As we pay tribute and honor to this respected and courageous statesman, we
fervently pray for the Almighty to grant Senator Nene eternal repose. May the perpetual
light shine upon him.”

Bago pumanaw, nakilala si Pimentel bilang isa sa mga pangunahing tagasulong nga
pederalismo.
