Read the e-book Climate and answer the following questions.

1. What is weather?

The conditions in the air above the earth such

as wind, rain, or temperature, especially at
a particular time over a particular area.

2. What is climate?

The general weather conditions usually found in
a particular place.
Climate is the weather pattern found in a specific place
over many years.

3. How does climate affect living things?

Climate affects the health of people, plants, animals,

oceans, and land

4. How do mountains influence climate?

Mountains tend to have

different climatic conditions
from the zonal climate where
they are found, due to a
decrease in temperature with
height at any latitude.
However, the action centers, the air masses and the
fronts that affect it are the same as in the zonal
climate.

5. How do oceans impact climate?

The ocean influences weather and

climate by storing solar radiation,
distributing heat and moisture
around the globe, and driving
weather systems. Ocean water is constantly evaporating,
increasing the temperature and humidity of the
surrounding air to form rain and storms that are then
carried by trade winds.

6. Write one descriptive paragraph about hyraxes. Remember to use capitalization and punctuation.

Hyraxes are small, thick herbivorous mammals in the

order Hyracoidea. Hyraxes are well-furred and round
animals with short tails. Normally, they are between 30
cm and 70 cm long and weigh between 2 kg and 5 kg.
They are often mistaken for rodents, but are more
closely related to elephants. Four species are
recognized; The rock hyrax, the yellow spotted rock
hyrax, the western tree hyrax, and the southern tree
hyrax. Its distribution is limited to Africa and the
Middle East.

7. Write one descriptive paragraph about the Mediterranean climate. Remember to use capitalization and
punctuation.

It is framed in temperate climates along with others

such as the Chinese, the Pampas or the oceanic. It is
characterized by temperate and rainy winters and dry
and hot summers, with variable autumns and springs,
both in temperatures and in rainfall. The name receives
it from the Mediterranean Sea, an area where this
climate is typical and acquires a greater geographical
extension, but is also present in other areas of the
planet, although with variations
in the distribution of
temperatures.

8. What is climate change?

It is a change in climate that is directly or indirectly
attributed to human activities that alters the global
composition of the atmosphere and to climate
variability that has been compared to other time
periods.

The current temperature change is happening in a very

short space of time, this is linked to the increase in the
concentration of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) such as
carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), water vapor
( H2O), ozone (O3) and nitrous oxide (N2O).
