6 Engine
V-ACT
Volvo Advanced Combustion Technology (V-ACT) is a Volvo developed engine
technology tailored for use in demanding off-road applications. Fuel injection is
electronically controlled based on temperature, pressure, load and engine speed
in order to achieve optimal combustion.
A high pressure fuel injection with great precision is obtained by the use of the
high pressure pump, a common rail and electronically controlled fuel injectors.
The engine ECM controls the combustion process with incredible precision.
Customer benefit
• Low fuel consumption. High torque at low engine speeds.
• Tried and tested technology with long operating life.
Available for L110H, L120H
• Low emission levels that fulfill exhaust cleaning requirements for Tier 4 final and
Stage IV.
• Smooth and fast engine response for optimum operability and maximum
operator satisfaction.
Regeneration
Every 500 hours, the EGR is turned off, throttle opening reduced and fuel is let
in to the exhaust by means of late injection in to the combustion chamber which
all together increases the exhaust temperature to start up the active regeneration
process in the DPF. This process is included in the 500 hour service interval.
Customer benefit
• Reduced fuel consumption due to longer interval between regenerations.
Oil filters
The engine oil is filtered through two full-flow filters and one by-pass filter, all of
them located on the left side of the engine. The filters are of the spin-on type and
easy to replace.
Customer benefit
• High efficiency filtration and easy oil filter access for maintenance.
Fuel filter
After the fuel-water separator, the fuel passes through another fuel filter.
Customer benefit
• Protects the injection system from contaminated fuel and reduces the risk of
malfunction.
Air intercooler
Compressed air leaving the turbocharger, which heats up and increases in volume
as a result of the pressure increase, passes through an air-to-air after-cooler in
order to decrease its volume and increase oxygen density per unit. The cooling is
so efficient that the air temperature is reduced by 100º C.
Customer benefit
• An oxygen-rich intake of air to the cylinders results in excellent combustion
quality which means low fuel consumption and emmisions.
Maintenance-free batteries
Two heavy duty maintenance-free 12 V batteries in series provide a 24 V electrical
system. The battery capacity is 2 x 170 Ah and has a cold cranking capacity of
approximately 1 000 A. The batteries are located in a well sealed easily accessible
compartment on the right side of the machine.
Customer benefit
• Easy access, and the operator is protected against possible acid leaks.
Alternator
An alternator rated at 2 280 W / 80 A effectively charges the batteries, even at
low engine rpm. The alternator has a built-in charge regulator.
Customer benefit
• Effective charging of the batteries.
Wiring
Each individual wire, connector and pin is clearly and systematically colored
and/or number coded.
Customer benefit
• Simple troubleshooting and quick repairs.
Lighting system
The machine is equipped with following lights as standard: Twin halogen front
headlights with high and low beams. Parking lights. Double brake and tail lights.
