How To Grow Plumeria

Seeds

Date: 27/04/2020

Items required
● Plumeria seeds
● Well draining soil (we use cactus soil/potting mix)
● Pot to plant seeds in
● Cling film

How to
1. Soak seeds in water for 8 - 24 hours. No longer than 24 hours as this can
seriously reduce germination rates.
2. Fill the growing pot with well draining soil (we use cactus potting mix for this,
however any well draining soil will work) - if well draining soil is not used the root
will rot and kill your plant.
3. Dampen soil in pot and allow excess water to drain off
4. Place seed ‘fat’ end first into the soil approximately 1/4” or roughly 0.5cm, wing
tip of the seed should be sticking out the top of the soil.
5. Firm soil around the base of the seed to ensure maximum contact with seed.
6. Cover pot with cling film to create a humid environment.
7. Place the pot in a bright spot and ensure the soil is always moist but not
saturated.

8. Seed should germinate between 7 and 30 days, however have been known to
germinate within 2 days, so check everyday.
9. When seedlings sprout and have either grown 2 sets of true leaves or outgrown
the original pot - move into bigger more permanent pots.
10. It is very important to make sure you don’t over water your plumeria plant - this
will cause root rot and kill the plant. Allow soil to dry out completely between
waterings. With great care you should hopefully see flowers in 3 - 5 years!

Good Luck!
