3.0 Programs undertaken by councils in implementing Local Agenda 21.

3.1 Programs undertaken by Municipal Council of Shah Alam.

3.1.1 Campaign “ Balik Kampung”

Program of free helmet has been held by Municipal Council Shah Alam which cooperating with
Road Safety Department of Malaysia – JKJR Selangor , Sirim QAS Sdn Bhd as well as Royal
Malaysia Police sempena to this campaign. There are total of 3000 helmet was distributed to
motorcyclist .This campaign was held in order to make sure every citizen especially motorcyclist
to always take their safety especially when back to village for perayaan . Through this campaign ,
it can cultivate awareness among cyclists to wear helmets that was certified safe according to the
standars set as it will ensure the their safety .This program that involve by three sector was help
Shah Alam in reaching a safe city.

3.1.2. Recycle Program

This program which in collaboration with Fraser & Neave (F&N) Holdings Bhd which a food
and beverage industries conglomerate in Singapore. In fact ,This program conduct a competition
in school level since 2007 and getting many participants throughout Shah Alam school.
Through this program , there are 150 tons rubbish that can be recycle has been collect which
indirectly help Municipal councils in saving for administration total RM15,600.00.In addition,
this program also encourage society especially student society to practice recycling and taking
care of the environment for the new generation as well as to create comfortable environment
aligned with Sustainable Development Local Agenda 21.
