Exam Week’s Silver Lining

Exams season is coming to an end, and this calls for celebration. And no better way to

celebrate than to pack your bags and travel. While AUC is the reason for our demise and

insanity, it is also giving an escape from it all. With the winter break coming up, from the 20th

of December to February 2nd, it is time to start planning and luckily clubs such as The Student

Union, Revival, Theatre and Film Club, and Act. And if your wallet is as drained as we

currently are, you can check out the wallet friendly recommendations.

The Student Union is offering to take you to Luxor and Aswan from the 20th of December to

the 25th. The five-day trip will take place on the Nile Ruby Cruise and is full board, however,

everything comes with a price and this trip has a hefty price of 6,250 L.E. The package

includes sightseeing tours, an English-speaking tour guide, transfers in Luxor and Aswan,

and the VIP train tickets between Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan. If the trip is too expensive, SU is

offering another trip to Dahab for almost half the price, this trip will also be from the 20th but

only until the 24th and for 3,100 L.E. Travelers will enjoy a stop in Sharm el Sheikh and will

enjoy the four days in Tropitel Dahab.


Revival is also offering a five-day trip to Dahab, from the 23rd to the 27th, and it’s for the

mere price of 2,150 L.E. This price tag includes transportation, five day stay at Penguin hotel

with breakfast, and the promise of “the most amazing quality”. For more information

regarding the trip’s itinerary you can on to Revival’s Facebook page where they posted the

schedule for the five-day trip.

If you were planning on stuffing yourself with pizza and binge watching Rom-Coms, well

you can still do that but from the world’s pizza capital. Theatre and film club have come up

with their fourth Europe trip, and this time they’re taking you to Italy. The trip includes a

three-night stay in Rome, a three-night stay in Milan, and a full day tour of Florence. The trip

also includes bus transportation and flight tickets, but these perks come with a price, a price

of 17,500 L.E. However, you can still borrow money from your parents or begin to save up,

because the trip is a more than a month away, it will be taking place from the 27th of January

to the 2nd of February.

And if Italy is just not your cup of tea, the you can check out ACT’s New year trip to Prague,

Vienna, and Budapest. Three countries with a two-night stay in Vienna, two-night stay in

Prague, and three in Budapest. This eight day trip is also for 17,500 L.E including flight

tickets, transportation, and accommodation. The trip is from the 28th of December to the 4th of

January, meaning that you’ll get to start the year strolling around Prague with a strudel in

your hand.

And if you’re time and wallet can’t handle the extravagant trips, you can still treat yourself to

ACT’s Alexandria day trip. The trip is on the 20th of December and will be for the mere price

of 150 L.E. The trip includes bus transportation, breakfast at OPA, and a tour of Al
Montazah. Be sure to free up your schedule on that day because the bus leaves at 7:30 in the

morning and returns at 10:30 PM.

Other options if your short on resources include a day trip to the pyramids and taking a selfie

with the sphinx, you could later enjoy riding camels and horses. You could also head to

Fayoum and spend the day there sandboarding while enjoying Wadi el Natroun’s sand dunes.

One could also tour the Citadel and spend the day there for less than 100 L.E. Or take a

felucca in the Nile for as little as 50 L.E, you can indulge in one of the many luxury

restaurants lining the Nile.
