Slide drilling enhanced with friction reduction sub
ConocoPhillips realize axial drag friction and torque reduction in
West Sak, Kaparuk Field using Weatherford’s LoTAD sub.

Formations: Sandstone
Depth: MD13,280 ft., TVD 3,808 ft. • Objectives:
Pore Press: Mud wt: 9.0 ppg To reduce the buckling when
drilling the horizontal section
Well Type: Multilateral and landing the liner string.
Hole Size: 6-3/4” • Results:
Number of Wells: 1 Positive weight gain and torque
reduction observed
Excellent actual slide drilling
performance and exceeded
expected result

LoTAD™ Roller Centralizers
The LoTAD™ tools achieve optimum performance when:
• Torque and/or drag reduction is paramount
• Where HSE and cost considerations ban the use of oil-based
and pseudo-oil-based mud
• Underpressured formations may cause differential sticking
• Optimal slide drilling performance is required

Features: Benefits:
• Low torque • Cased or open hole operation
• Low axial drag • Simple installation and service

LoDRAG™ Roller Centralizers
The LoDRAG™ tools achieve optimum performance when:

• Casing, liner and screens are being run in horizontal

and extended-reach wells
• Centralizer wear may compromise the cement job
• Slide drilling n casing or liner

Features: Benefits:
• Small roller contact area • Reduces differential sticking
• Rollers avoid plowing • Improves cement sheath

LoTORQ™ Roller Centralizers
The LoTORQ™ tools achieve optimum performance when:
• Casing, liner and screens are being run
in horizontal and extended-reach wells
• Long and/or heavy cemented liners are
being rotated

Features:
• Bi-directional rollers
• Small roller contact area Benefits:
• Reduces differential sticking
• Exceptional wear resistance
• Improve cement sheath
• For CRA applications parts coated with
isolating polyamid material to prevent
contaminating contact

SlickSleeve™ Centralizer
The SlickSleeve™ tool is a drill pipe deployed torque, drag
and casing wear reduction tool.
• For wells where directional profiles cause drill pipe to bear
heavily against the casing sidewall. (high angle, short
radius or extended reach)
• Where pressure integrity of wellbore casing is essential for
safety and control of well.

Features: Benefits:
• Does not rotate directly on drill pipe • 30 – 40 % torque reduction
• 300° F (150° C) rated • Fewer tools required per
• 10,000 lbs side load job
• Oil or water based mud systems • Long life bearings
• Inexpensive
