Orifice-Riser Distributors
PTFE Orifice-Riser Distributors are Non-Clogging
and Adaptable to a Wide Range of Flow Rates

Edlon, Inc.’s unique design is a combination

of a pan type orifice distributor and a weir-
riser distributor. Flow is self-regulated by the
liquid level on the pan. In the event of a
sudden increase in flow rate or if solids were
to clog the orifices, the liquid level will rise
and flow will be controlled by the notches in
the riser tubes.

The unit can be customized to handle high

turndown ratios. In addition, it is not
adversely affected by increased flow rates
due to process changes.

Edlon fabricates their Orifice-Riser

Distributor from virgin PTFE and PFA
materials, machined and assembled to
guarantee mechanical durability and
corrosion resistance.

Large Diameter Orifice riser distributor

Standard design is one-piece construction.
A support ledge is required with a minimum
38mm width for column diameters 400mm
and under, and a minimum 50mm width for
larger diameters.

Standard design provides structural strength

up to 175°C for sizes up to 900mm. Larger
sizes may be custom designed with
supplemental span support.

Special designs incorporating built-in

support rings, packing hold down plates or
anti-migration rods (to prevent packing
bypass) are available on request.

PTFE Weir-Trough Distributors
PTFE Weir-Trough Distributors are designed to span large
diameter columns while providing open area for high volume
vapour flow, and handling a wide range of liquid flow rates

The trough-type distributor can be

constructed to fit packed columns ranging
from 36” to 48” in diameter. It is designed
especially for distributing corrosive liquids
over packing.

Each closed end trough is engineered with

the proper number of weirs to provide even
distribution over a wide range of liquid flow
rates. The spaces between the troughs
provide the large open area required for high
volume vapour flow.
Edlon designs a continuous support ledge to
support the Weir-Trough.

PTFE Rosette Redistributors
PTFE Rosette Redistributors are designed to redirect liquid
to the inner area of the packed bed to improve overall
column efficiency

In all Packed columns, liquid at the lower

portion of each packed bed has the tendency
to flow toward the wall of the column. Liquid
flowing down the column has less turbulence,
resulting in poor mass transfer with the gas
phase. Redirecting that liquid back to the inner
area of the packed bed improves the overall
efficiency of the column.

Edlon’s PTFE Rosette Redistributor is designed

to accomplish this task without sacrificing a
large cross-sectional area of the column for
gas flow. It can be designed for mounting
between body flanges of column sections or to
fit inside the packed section.

Typical locations for mounting PTFE Rosette

Redistributors are:
1. Between the body flanges of two adjacent
