Decebalus (r. 87–106 AD) was the last king of Dacia.

He is famous for
fighting three wars, with varying success, against the Roman Empire.
When Trajan came to power, his armies invaded Dacia to weaken its
threat to the Roman border territories of Moesia. Decebalus was defeated
in 102 AD.
Trajan reduced the Dacian capital Sarmizegetusa in 106 AD to ruins,
absorbing some of Dacia into the Empire. Decebalus committed suicide to
avoid capture. Roman conquest of Dacia stands at the base of the origin
of Romanians.

Stephen the Great (died on 2 July 1504) was voivode (or prince) of
Moldavia from 1457 to 1504.
Stephen's long rule represented a period of stability in the history of
Moldavia. Modern Romanians regard him as one of their greatest national
heroes, although he also endures as a cult figure in Moldovenism. After
the Romanian Orthodox Church canonized him in 1992, he is venerated as
"Stephen the Great and Holy"

Unification Day is celebrated in Romania every 24 January to
commemorate the union of the two “Danubian Principalities” of Wallachia
and Moldavia in 1859. This marked the beginning of the modern state of
Romania. National Day, on the other hand, celebrates the addition of
Transylvania and some other provinces to form a larger union on 1
December 1918.
The Revolutions of 1989 formed part of a revolutionary wave in the late
1980s and early 1990s that resulted in the end of communist rule in Central
and Eastern Europe and beyond. At first the security forces obeyed
Ceauşescu's orders to shoot protesters. However, on the morning of 22
December, the Romanian military suddenly changed sides.
The Romanian Revolution started in the city of Timișoara and soon spread
throughout the country, ultimately culminating in the show trial and
execution of longtime Communist Party General Secretary Nicolae
Ceaușescu and his wife Elena, and the end of 42 years of Communist rulein
Romania.
The Romanian Revolution was the bloodiest revolution out of the Revolutions
of 1989.
The revolution resulted in 1,104 deaths
