Dnet:

On January 13, 2001, a group of young professionals who wanted to make the world a better
place came up with the idea of founding a company which will implement the power of
information and communication technology (ICT) for socio-economic development. After a lot
of brainstorming sessions and discussions, the noble group of gentlemen settled on a decision to
establish a social enterprise and they named it ‘Dnet’.

Dnet is a non-profit Social Enterprise fostering innovation for empowerment of marginalized


communities with special emphasis on women and children focusing on technology and access
to information and knowledge. It has evolved into a social enterprise for fostering fusion of
social and technological innovations for improving the lives of marginalized people in
Bangladesh and beyond.

The aim is to promote “Access to information and Knowledge” for all citizens for fulfilling
development objectives at a national, constitutional and international level.

Dnet thrives to apply commercial strategies, where applicable, to maximize improvements in


human and environmental well-being, rather than maximizing profits for external shareholders.
Through its activities, envisages contributing towards building a social economy. Since then, the
organization has been working relentlessly to revolutionize the social atmosphere in Bangladesh.

BRAC Seeds:
BRAC has been working in the agriculture sector since 1972.

Quality seeds are one of the necessary factors for high yields. To ensure quality seed supply,
BRAC has been marketing hybrid maize seeds and rice seeds. It has established the value chain
system of production and distribution for seeds and other agricultural inputs, allowing the
enterprise to offer fair prices to farmers. It focuses on supplying quality agricultural inputs,
appropriate production and post-harvest technologies to enhance production and reduce post-
harvest losses to optimize the profit of poor and marginal farmers.

The objective is to enhance food and nutritional security by ensuring the consistent supply of
quality agricultural inputs including resilient varieties, promoting sustainable production
technologies and appropriate mechanization to reduce post-harvest losses.

It is important to BRAC to use sustainable methods, so that agricultural development does not
occur at the cost of environment harmony.
mPower Social Enterprise LTD.
A diverse set of skills and perspectives makes the mPower team. Mridul Chowdhury is the
Founder & CEO, Rubayat Khan is Chief of R&I, Co-Founder, Tahmina Khanam and
Mohammad Tufael Chowdhury are directors of the company.

It is a social enterprise which is moving the development paradigm into the information age. It
believes in the power of human centered design tools and frameworks to create innovative and
results-oriented solutions to systematic problems in emerging market contexts. Its tech solutions
are built in a way that can show stakeholders-taxpayers and philanthropists where their money is
going and whose lives they are changing.

mPower is dedicated to information technology solutions and strategies that maximize impact on
people’s lives. The vision is a world where everyone has access to quality services.

Physically- challenged Development Foundation (PDF):


PDF is a registered, nonprofit organization of the Republic OF Bangladesh. It is a local
organization whose membership comprises of youth with disabilities community between the
ages of 16-35.

It aims to improve the quality of life among youth with disabilities by facilitating their personal
development and promoting their involvement in all physical and social environmental matters.
It seeks to work on the concept of an inclusive society through and by youth who do not have
disabilities.

Since its creation in 2008, the organization has experienced significant growth and has been
involved in or has coordinated a number of activities/projects at the national, regional and
international levels. Significantly, the organization has conducted, and has assisted youth with
disability in leadership and other training courses.

TigerBow:
TigerBow is a Bangladeshi bowtie making company which is crafted by countryside
craftswomen and made with state-of-the-art ‘Katan fabric from Bangladesh.
It sources traditional fabrics and artisans, those who have been carrying the tradition of making
clothes for generations and connect their products to first world luxury markets. The products
exceed the quality of a standard department store product.

It is a source of income for Bangladeshi rural women as it allows some people to continue their
livelihood through making others look good.

The concept of TigerBow is one of mutual benefit. They curate bowties with fabric sourced from
their land and hands that have been celebrating their culture for years and therefore, they
empower artisan through upholding culture.
