Philosophy of Technology in

Education
Technology is in everything we do, and it almost seems impossible to go without it for a

single day. We use it regularly in places like the military, the grocery store, a dentist's office, our

home, and our workplace, so why not use it in the classroom? It can allow us to explore more

and show students how to use it as an academic tool. Technology can take a significant weight

off a teacher's shoulders because it aids with grading, keeping track of students’ progress,

accommodate student's needs, and much more.

Virtual reality is a tool that replaces field trips and gives students a great experience.

Virtual reality can help reduce the cost of field trips and long bus rides. It can be a great tool

when learning about a different country. For example, in a Spanish classroom, virtual reality

takes the students to a Latin country and gives them the feel of being there, and it makes them

more engaged in their learning.

The "cloud" is an excellent tool for students and teachers in the classroom. The cloud is

for storing documents, textbooks, pictures, notes, and more in an electronic cloud that can be

accessed anywhere on a device. The cloud saves time, money, paper, and reduces the weight on

students’ backpacks. It is an excellent tool for students who lose their materials quickly because

it automatically saves everything that is stored in the cloud. Students can share their cloud with

teachers and make it easier for them to grade and see how much time they are spending on their

homework.

Technology is an excellent tool for the classroom, but there is a downside to it. The use

of it limits students to use their imagination and handwriting/logical thinking skills. Students are
now able to use the web for any research or answer. Instead of using their knowledge or

creativity, they rely on someone else's ideas and make them their own. When using technology,

there is no need to write information down on pen and paper; instead, students can take notes on

their device or take a picture. It can come to a point where students do not know how to take

notes, which is important because scientists say that students learn more when they write things

down.

I depend a lot on technology because I use every day for everything. I use it when I go to

a new place, and I don't know my way around, instead of using a map or asking for directions, I

depend on my google maps. All my pictures and personal information are on my phone. If

technology were to go down, all my personal information would go down with it because I do

not have it written down anywhere else. I've learned to use technology and all its great features to

my advantage, but I think I depended on it too much. I would say technology takes away from

my social interactions because when I get social anxiety, I immediately turn to my phone. When

I walk around campus, I am on my phone instead of interacting with other students.

I am all for technology in the classroom because I know it will help me with teaching,

and students will be more engaged with all its helpful features. There are some negatives to using

it in the classroom, but it is improving every day for the better.
