a. Name a damaging weed, pest, disease in your country!
Answer : Damaging weed like a Cyperus rotundus, Cyperus kyllingia,
Scirpus maritimus, Mikania michranta, Mimosa pudica. For pests such as
rats, plant hopper, walang sangit, birds, stem borer, snails and diseases
such as tungro, leaf blight, stem rot, leaf spot and fusarium.
b. What are ways to avoid crop damage from weeds, pests, and disease?
Answer : To avoid crop damage from weeds, pests, and diseases, are can
be done mechanically or chemically. To control weeds mechanically can
be done by pulling, burning, land management, use of mulch. For
chemical control can use herbicides. Whereas pest control can be carried
out using traps, using natural or chemical pesticides. For disease control
can be done with crop rotation, soil disinfection before planting, as well as
periodic monitoring or using pesticides.
