April 27 Episode 841 – Sinesensiya: Red Tide

Red tide or HABs causes economic, public health, and/or environmental harm. Clay can easily
bind together the red tide organisms suspended on the water surface and settle them at the
sea bottom where said organisms become inactive. With the help of PhilHABs thry R&D, it
contributes to the improvement of the prediction and management of HABs occurrence
through the determination of its ecological and oceanographic conditions.
April 28 Episode 883 – Sinesensiya: Binahon Agrofarm

PCAARRD in coordination with DOST-10 leads to improve Lantapan’s chemical-free carrot


production and processing. Lantapan is known as the “vegetable basket” of Mindanao where
high-valued vegetable crops are grown and marketed to the major cities in Mindanao and even
as far as Metro Cebu. Carrots raised in Lantapan contributed to Bukidnon’s reputation as one
of the top five carrot-producing provinces in the country.

April 29 Episode 842 – Sinesensiya: CEST-Alilem

The Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) program aims to provide
livelihood and alleviate poverty in remote communities in Alilem, Ilocos Sur.The program’s
implementation entails provision and transfer of technology-based livelihood projects to the
identified communities. This will also facilitate the transfer of technologies to beneficiaries
along the areas of education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, disaster risk reduction,
and industry development or livelihood.
April 30 Episode 880 – Sinesensiya: Lanao Lake

There is a need to integrate the ecological goals with the economic development and the
socio-economic condition of the people in Lanao. Nacua’s research targeted to assess the
Lake Lanao Fishery Resource which includes population survey, reproductive and
morphometric characterization of endemic and introduced fish species of Lake Lanao.
