Teenage Conflict and Digital Media

Social media is a platform that is becoming very popular because of its user-friendly
features these days. Social media sites such as Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and more offer
people a chance to communicate through distances. By these experiences, young people are able
to exchange ideas, obtain insight, express their opinions, and often be open to other
opportunities. Using these platforms also have downfall in it such as having enemies, it can
destroy friendship, etc.
As we all know that that in these social media platforms we can express whatever
opinions we have in mind, it can help other people to release their stress by posting on how they
feel. According to the research by Pew Research and others, majority of teenage social media
user experience drama in these platforms, 45% of the respondent says that they occasionally
experience drama on social media. It is not bad to show how you feel on social media as long as
you do not hurt other people’s feelings. I believe in the saying think before you click, in social
media we also need to be careful on what we click, on what we say, and do, because we cannot
tell if the other people can understand well on what you are telling to them or your comments to
them. All people have their own different perspective. According to Pew Research Center Teens
Relationships Survey, Teenagers who have access to social media are more likely to be involved
in an online conflict or in a text message, they say that girls are more likely prone than boys.
Additionally, 31% of social media users have fought with a friend over something that happen
online.
In conclusion, the author shows that using these kind of platforms has its own downfall
and will continue to be harmful to its millions of users, no one is immune to the destructive side
effects of social media. Social media users should think before they click, we must use these
platforms wisely and carefully to avoid conflict it brings.
