Threats of Overpopulation
It is the most leading issues that we are facing today. This complex, pervasive issue will
prove to be a very critical issue for citizens of all races, religions and nationalities.
Overpopulation is a problem faced by every country, but often ignored due to lack of
understanding and awareness. Overpopulation is an unwanted condition in which the amount of
current human populations exceeds Earth's carrying capacity. It affects humanity, natural
resources, and our environment, which can lead to many problematic issues we are experiencing
today.

So many people in too little space. Currently, there are already hundred millions of
people walking around in our little country, based on worldometer. When time passes by, our
population is growing exponentially, and our people will have less space to live in. This is a
serious matter that should be dealt with immediately. There are major contributing factors in
overpopulation such as birth rate is greater than mortality rate. Overpopulation comes in when
birth rate exceeds mortality rate. Currently birth rate is increasing due to unprotected and
premarital sex. While mortality rates are decreasing due to technologies that improved medical
treatments.

Overpopulation can have an impact on our environment, as our environment is gradually

being damaged by human activities, such as the increasing number of vehicles and industries,
which have severely affected our fresh air we breathe. According to Ms. Rebecca Lindsey, the
average of our CO2 in 2018 was 407.4 parts per million in short our CO2 level today are much
higher than at any point in at least the past 800,000 years. Causing us what we call climate
change. This is one of the effects of having too many people in a place. Climate change can harm
us by changing weather to extreme heat and rainfall resulting from getting lots of disease.

We all know that Philippines is well known to be rich in natural resources and biological
diversity. Our country is rich in land and water which supports our agriculture and fisheries,
according to Jonathan Mayuga. But as time pass by, we are experiencing resource depletion,
why? Because our earth can only produce a limited amount of natural resources, but because our
population is growing rapidly, our demand for our daily needs is also increasing, causing us to
cut down the forest for our shelters and equipment, recklessly hunting animals for foods, and to
continuously destroy our mountains in order to get minerals to produce worthless jewelry.

I believe that our government must not ignore this issue because it is causing a lot of
problems in our country, as I said earlier, these are just some of the problems caused by
overpopulation. Our government should focus on providing better and more entertaining
education for students to learn about the effects of overpopulation on our country, as well as on
family planning for their people to reduce or prevent overpopulation, and I know that we cannot
solve it but we can prevent it. So as an individual, what can you do to prevent overpopulation?
