Skills Profile

ORGANISATION
As a group leader for the university project, I learnt that careful planning was key to successful
completion of the project. During my MEng project, I developed templates for minutes, agenda
and introduced a protocol for email communication, whilst also arranging progress meeting. I
was the group leader and I have set out from the start a plan for how we aim to proceed, with
deadlines and targets. This proven to be a successful strategy and we have no major last minute
panic to complete a project on time.

TEAM WORKING
I have taken an active role in the design project which is an important module of my course. This
involved working in a team of 5 to solve particular engineering problem and ultimately produce
a report and presentation on our finding. I am excellent at keeping the group focused on the task
and ensuring that we get the work done in time. I gained a First for my performance.

PROBLEM SOLVING
Studying engineering, I have developed a strong analytical approach which has involved
identifying problem, recognising important data and making logical decisions. I have learned
several strategies to approach a problem and carry out a thorough analysis before beginning to
find a suitable solution.
COMMUNICATION
Working as a life-saving instructor really helped me to enhance my communication skills as I
explained principles and rescue skills to everyone from young children to adults. I often found
new ways to explain concepts and dealt with question on spot. My course has also provided me
the opportunity to present topics to groups and report writing has also been required.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Practical experience with: Microsoft office suite, Matlab, Matlab Simulink, C, Objective C, Rf-
Sim, CadSoft Eagle Software, MPLAB, Apple Xcode SDKs and Photoshop Lightroom, having
used these as part of my coursework.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
English (fluent), Mandarin (fluent) and Cantonese (conversational)

TECHNICAL SKILLS
I have executed two projects in the field of renewable energy. My 3rd year project was about
simulation and efficiency analysis on a electrical power system for PV system. My MEng project
was about designing power systems for wind power system. In both projects, I have done
computer simulation, actual hardware implementation, testing, optimization and health and
safety analysis.
