Procedure for changing creating and restoring SBC Flash Images

1. Move tool to safe location and switch off SBC.


2. Remove Compact Flash Card from SBC.
3. Connect Compact Flash Card to USB or PCMCIA card reader.
4. Check to ensure that CF can be accessed from laptop.

To create the image to laptop.

1. Open R-Linux
2. Select the appropriate drive in the main window, normally this will be a multi-partition
drive. Ensure the total memory disk space matches approximately with the marked value as
shown on the CF card
3. Select [DRIVE-CREATE IMAGE]
4. Enter a name for the image file - this should reflect the tool name and date
5. Select [SAVE]
6. Wait for the card to be restored.
7. Close R-Linux

Restoring an image file to a CF card

1. Open R-Linux
2. Select the appropriate drive in the main window. Ensure the total memory disk space
matches approximately with the marked value as shown on the CF card
3. Select [TOOLS-ENABLE WRITE]
4. Select [TOOLS-VIEW/EDIT]
5. Select [TOOLS-ENABLE WRITE]
6. Select [TOOLS-LOAD FROM FILE]
7. Navigate to the image file and select [OPEN]
8. Wait for the card to be restored.
9. Close R-Linux

During the creation and restoring of images a progress indicator can be seen at the bottom of the
R-Linux window. Do not attempt to remove the card whilst this indicator is running. To
remove the CF card safely use the Safely Remove Hardware option on the task bar. This is the
