M arch 21st, 2020 marked the beginning of A mile-
stone
the BuildTheEarth Project. The idea of a single
man, through one single YouTube video,
cascaded into a massive community.

An overwhelming amount of support... 9.5

million views, thousands of new members, a
at a
developing staff team - we all began working
on a project we truly believed in. Builders
began to gather, starting progress on their
time
cities, hometowns and iconic regions around the world. Moderators, Builders,
Reviewers, Public Relations teams came into effect as over the period of a
month, we became more and more organised as a communal project. The first
real hurdle presented itself with the issue of the map projection, and was dealt
with by the release of the new map projection on April 12th.

Soon after, on April 18th came the release of the official BuildTheEarth website,
streamlining and changing entirely how the Review team would interact with
building applications. Over the short period of a month, we now have a staff
team of over 50 members from around the globe, working towards bettering the
project using their own unique skillsets.

Even more impressively, on the 23rd of March, we hit another major milestone -
200,000 members on our very own BTE Discord. This project is surging ahead at
an unprecedented rate, and the community is growing steadily. This project
would be impossible to surmount without the help of everyone who is willing to
donate their time and efforts, and so we wish to thank you. 200,000 members is
no small feat, and we wish to rise even higher. Let us keep growing, keep
creating, and Build The Earth.

Folding@Home w/ BTE
I doubt there would be a single soul reading this article that is unaware of the
current global pandemic. In fact, I doubt there are many people left across the
globe that are yet to learn about the ill effects of COVID-19. In light of this very
situation, shejan, one of the Mod Developers involved in the BTE project
decided we should do our part too. The Folding@Home project involves a
complex process of using computing power to 'fold' and 'unfold' proteins in an
effort to unravel the DNA that makes up the virus that is currently causing
global panic. This method of folding proteins was the very same one that was
employed when the H1N1 virus outbreak had occurred.

This process can be long and arduous, maybe even taking days to complete a
single fold depending on the processing power. In order to garner the
processing power required to expedite the folding process as much as
possible, Washington University created the Folding@Home project to allow
individuals the opportunity to spare their home computers' processing power
towards the cause. Large organisations such as the WHO are currently paying
large sums of money to tech-giants in order for them to lend their processing
power for this very same function. By donating your processing power, you are
acting as a unit of a much larger super computer that handles the functions of
folding and unfolding proteins.

The Folding@Home project also visualizes the protein it's folding.

Although this is a rarely known fact, the true processing power of your
computing devices are never truly used to their fullest potential. While doing
work on softwares, writing documents working on a browser, even playing
games, there is a lot of processing power that is yet to be accessed within
your machine. This processing power is what can be used by this initiative to
help solve this pandemic faster. BTE announced its participation in the
Folding@Home project on 7th of April, showing our solidarity with 250,000
other teams worldwide that are also generously participating in this initiative
with us.

that scaled to a total of 6600
units over the next 2 weeks. This

Builds of the
Week
1 Reddit BotW Winner, 2 Submitted on Discord, and 2
Submitted on our Google Form.

Reddit BotW Winner

By Stevertus
This week’s winner is Stevertus, who built the europa
passage. This $430 Million, 5 story investment took over
3 years to build in real life, but only a week to do the
same work in minecraft. The mall has over 30,000 square
meters of office space and nearly 150 shops. The interior
is not yet finished, but looking at the work done on the
outside we don't have any concerns about the inside.

Royal Exhibition Building

By Kleptomaniac
Who said that museums have to be boring?
Kleptomaniac for sure didn't ask that question when he
began building one. The Royal Exhibition Building is still
used as a commercial exhibition venue and is a part of
the international exhibition movement among 50 others.
The students of University of Melbourne also use it as an
exam hall. From 1880 we move to a time in earth's
history that has left quite a mark.

Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

By Willkill & Mixa Mortiferum
On the 26th of April, 1986, at 1:23am, a reactor in
Chernobyl experienced a critical meltdown. Willkill and
Mixa Mortiferum wanted the future generations to
remember that even if something may promise a better
future; it can also be its demise. For now, the reactor is
uncovered, but the builders are planning on putting the
sarcophagus over it as soon as possible.

Detroit, Michigan
By Sigi & Detroit BTE
We are all about community and we may have just found
the perfect one. Sigi and team Detroit BTE show that you
don't need huge servers or custom plugins to bring
people together. Among others, we can find the
Penobscot Building or the ‘Meridian building’. You can
really see the city grow right in front of your eyes with a
team so dedicated.

Tseung Quan O, Hong Kong

By xXAnsenXx
Sometimes we think of urbanized blocks of apartment
buildings as quite boring, but these apartments in
Tseung Kwan O, in Hong Kong, built by xXAnsenXx on
KreemaCraft Network, show that even a simple housing

estate area may be beautiful. Most of the work was done
on the old projection, but the builder is in the process of
transferring it into the new airocean projection.
