THE INTERNATIONAL TRUMPET GUILD

M EWSLETTER
Volume I, No. 1
February, 1975
Greetings and welcome to all charter members of the International
Trumpet Guild from your Interim Steering Committee. We are very
pleased to have your interest and support. We are looking forward
to a growing and developing organization, which, through your active
participation, will make the I.T.G. worthy of all its members. By
way of editorial comment we are happy to report that an examination
of the first two hundred charter member applications received by last
month revealed that we are well on our way to achieving a remarkably
diverse and hopefully well-balanced membership, representing the
symphony,- jazz, and free-lance players, as well as high school and
college teachers and students, and even such associate members as
the music school dean, the music librarian, the music editor, the
brass music publisher, a manufacturer of trumpet equipment, and others.
We hope that sometime during this year we will be able to distribute
a membership directory to which will be added supplementary lists
from time to time via the NEWSLETTER.
The success of future NEWSLETTERS will depend primarily on the
cooperative response from our membership. It is our hope that we will
receive sufficient input of news and other information from you, our
correspondents, to warrant several such letters annually. Your
comments and suggestions in regard to the NEWSLETTER will be very
helpful in making it what you want it to be. We can anticipate that
the ev.entual format will include editorial comment, reprints of
letters from members, perhaps specific articles by members, personal
notices, listing of events past and future, news of I.T.G. Chapter
activities, supplementary membership lists, notes on recordings,
performances, and publications, new developments from manufacturers,
and listings of tour itineraries of groups and individuals. This
first NEWSLETTER attempts to give a sampling of these various topic
sections,
I.T.G. members will be receiving their membership cards and a
questionnaire enclosed with this NEWSLETTER. Please complete this
form in detail and kindly return it at your earliest convenience to
Charles Gorham, School of Music, Indiana University,Bloomington,
Indiana, 47401. The purpose of this questionnaire data is to
provide the elected officers and administrative personnel of I.T.G.
with necessary information to expedite the various phases of its
operation. In addition, we urge you to send any further details about
your current activities and future plans (concerts, recordings,
publications, tours, appointments, awards, etc.) for our files and for
,possible inclusion in the NEWSLETTER. Also, any information about
matters of general interest concerning people and activities in your
area or region will be most welcome. Please check your information
with sources for accuracy.
The steering committee wishes to express its appreciation for the
many thoughtful suggestions concerning I.T.G.!
