Goals and Objectives

Students will learn about the elements and principles of art through a variety
of materials explored in this class. Students will gain hands on experience
with working in both two and three dimensional mediums. Students will also
consider what art is and why we create art throughout the semester.

Materials Needed
Most materials will be supplied in class, but all students should be prepared
to bring the following to every class:
Pencil (not mechanical)
Eraser
Folder for keeping notes and papers
Laptop
A positive attitude and an open mind!
Should any student not have these available, come and talk to me in the first
week of classes.

Grading
This class rarely has homework due to the supplies we will be using, so class
time is important. For this reason, students will get a daily participation
grade in addition to the grades of projects. Students who are absent may
make up participation points by reading a current event article about
something going on in the field of art, or by going to an art exhibit/event,
such as visiting the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. Students are also graded
heavily on projects, so students will have hands on experience with making
art. All grades can be accessed through the schools SIS system.
