END TERM EXAMINATION (2017-18 Odd Semester)
Time: 2 hrs [40 Marks]

Instructions: Solve the following four questions and prepare a one A4 size page PDF file of the
same. The name of the file should be your ID. The file must have your name, ID, and section.
Save the file on your desktop. Remember to save your work regularly.

1. A line AB, 100 mm long, has end A 10 mm behind VP, end B 20 mm in front of VP, and HT
30 mm in front of VP. If the distance between its end projectors is 75 mm, draw its
projections and find its true length and inclinations with the principal reference planes, and
locate its VT. [6 Marks]
2. A 60-30 set-square is suspended from the midpoint of its shortest side such that the set-
square seems to make an angle of 60⁰ with VP. Draw its projections. [10 Marks]
3. A solid comprises of a hexagonal prism placed below and coaxial with a cylinder. The prism
is 30 mm side and 20 mm thickness while the cylinder has a diameter of 20 mm and a height
of 50 mm. If the axis of the solid is parallel to HP and inclined 30⁰ to VP, draw its
projections when only one of the corners of the hexagonal prism lies on VP and the entire
solid lies in one quadrant. [10 Marks]
4. A cone of base diameter 60 mm and height 70 mm lies on one of its generators in VP, with
its axis parallel to HP. It is cut by a section plane passing through the bottom of the axis and
inclined 30⁰ to HP. if the smaller portion is removed, draw its projections, the true shape of
the cut section, and develop the surface of the truncated piece. [14 Marks]

1. A line AB has its elevation 45 mm long, its plan 60 mm long, and its HT and VT coincide. If the end
projectors of the line are 25 mm apart, draw its projections and find its true length and inclinations
with the reference planes. [8 Marks]
2. A semicircular plate lies on its flat side on HP with the base making an angle of 30º with the VP and
the plate making an angle of 60º with the HP. Draw its projections if the plate lies in the third
quadrant. [8 Marks]
3. A hexagonal pyramid is suspended from the midpoint of one of its slants, such that the axis is incline
30º to HP and seems to be inclined 40º to VP. Draw its projections. [10 Marks]
4. A cylinder of base diameter 60 mm and height 70 mm lies on a point on its base on HP, with its axis
parallel to VP and inclined 30º to HP. It is cut by a horizontal section plane passing through the
midpoint of the axis. Draw its projections, the true shape of the cut section, and develop the surface of
the truncated cylinder. [14 Marks]

1. A line AB has both its end points on the same projector, and lies in the third quadrant. The front view
of the line is 30 mm long and starts 10 mm from the XY line, while the top view of the line is 60 mm
long and starts 20 mm from the XY line. Find the true length and inclination of the line and locate its
HT and VT. [8 Marks]
2. A circle of diameter 60 mm is inclined 60º to the HP and one of its diameters is inclined 40º to the
VP. Draw its projections. [8 Marks]
3. A cone of base diameter 60 mm and height 70 mm, is suspended from a point on its base rim, such
that the axis seems to make an angle of 30º with the VP, when viewed from the top. Draw its
projections. [10 Marks]
4. A hexagonal prism, base side 30 mm and height 60 mm, lies on HP on one of its rectangular faces. It
is cut by a section plane that passes through a point on the axis 20 mm from one of the bases. Draw
its projections, the true shape of the cut section and develop the surface of the truncated (smaller)
portion of the solid if the section plane is normal to HP and inclined 30º to VP. [14 Marks]
