Section of Solids

Q.1) A hexagonal pyramid base 30mm side and axis 65mm long is resting on its base on HP with two
edges parallel to VP. It is cut by section plane perpendicular to the VP inclined at 45° to the HP and
intersecting the axis at a point 25mm above the base. Draw the front view, sectional top view,
sectional side view and true shape of the section.

Q.2) A pentagonal pyramid side of base 50mm and axis 90mm, rests with its base on H.P and one of the
edges of the base perpendicular to V.P. it is cut by a section plane inclined at 45° to H.P. and
perpendicular to V.P and cutting the axis at a point 25mm from the apex. Draw its F.V., sectional
T.V and true shape of the section.

Q.3) A square prism of side of base 30 mm and axis height 70 mm has its base in the H.P. with one of its
sides inclined at 30° to the V.P. It is cut by a cutting plane inclined at 60° to the H.P. and
perpendicular to the V.P. and cutting the axis at a point 20 mm from the top surface. Draw its front
view, sectional top view, and true shape of the section.

Q.4) A square prism of 40mm diagonals and 70mm axis is resting on its base on HP. It is cut by a section
plane perpendicular to VP and inclined to HP and bisecting the axis so that the true shape of the
section is a rhombus having diagonals 40mm and 60mm long. Obtain the sectional top view and true
shape of the section. Also determine the inclination of cutting plane with HP.

Q.5) A square prism of 40mm diagonals and 70mm axis is resting on its base on HP.

Q.6) A cylinder of 40 mm diameter, 60 mm height and having its axis vertical, is cut by a section plane,
perpendicular to the V.P, inclined at 45othe H.P. and intersecting the axis 32 mm above the base.
Draw its front view, sectional top view, sectional side view and true shape of the section.

Q.7) A cone, diameter of base 50 mm and axis 50 mm long is resting on its base on the H.P. It is
cut by a section plane perpendicular to the V.P., inclined at 750 to the H.P. and passing
through the apex. Draw its front view, sectional top view and true shape of the section.

Q.8) A square prism with side of base 40 mm and axis height 80mm long is resting on its base on H.P. All
the sides of base are equally inclined to the V.P. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to the V.P.
and inclined at an angle of 40° to the H.P. and cuts the axis at a distance of 35 mm from the apex.
Draw the front view, sectional top view, sectional side view and true shape of the section.
