Engineering Graphics Assignment

Prof. Sudarshan Gajre, Department of Mechanical Engineering, VJTI Mumbai

1 Assignment No. 1 (Projection of line)

1. A room is of size 6m × 5m × 3.5m high. Determine graphically the real distance between the top

corner and its diagonally apposite bottom corners. consider appropriate scale.

2. The front view of the line PQ 80 mm long measures 50 mm and it is inclined to XY (reference line)

at 500 . One end of the P is 20 mm above HP & 25 mm in front of the VP. Draw the front view & top

view of the line & find the inclinations of the line with HP VP. Assume point Q in third quadrant.

2 Assignment No. 2 (Projection of Plane)

1. A 300 – 600 set square of longest side 100 mm long, is in VP and 300 inclined to HP while it’s

surface is 450 inclined to VP. Draw its projections.

2. A rectangular plate of 30 × 50mm is resting on one of its corner on VP with diagonal passing

through that corner inclined to HP at 300 and to VP at 450 . Draw its projection.

3 Assignment No. 3 (Projection of solid)

1. A pentagonal pyramid side of base 30 mm and height 75 mm is having one of its triangular faces

resting on H.P. Draw the projection of pentagonal pyramid.

2. A hexagonal pyramid has an altitude of 60 mm and side base 30mm. The pyramid rests on one of

its side of the base on HP such that the triangular face containing that side is perpendicular to HP.

Draw the front and top views.

4 Assignment No. 4 (Section of solid and Development of surface)

1. A square pyramid, base 40 mm side and axis 65 mm long, has its base on the HP and all the edges

of the base equally inclined to the VP. It is cut by a section plane, perpendicular to the VP, inclined

at 450 to the HP and bisecting the axis. Draw its sectional Top view, sectional side view and true

shape of the section and development of remaining solid.

2. A cone, 50 mm base diameter and 70 mm axis is standing on its base on the HP. It is cut by a section

plane inclined at 450 to the HP through the base of end generator. Draw projections, sectional views,

true shape of the section and development of remaining solid.
