Quiz 2: Determining Training needs at union pacific Railroad
How would you conduct a needs assessment to determine what types of training
conductors need to effectively use the new system?

Introduction:

In the Railroad business, we must know about the actual gap and style that can
enhance the performance of new system. We should emphasis to get the knowledge of
new system and it should be improved in trainees as well, then they can become
familiar how to operate that system in the railroad union. Knowledge of new system will
give ability to Conductor to communicate and locate railcars that need to be delivered.
Conductor can assess why this training is necessary for trainees and where it should be
conduct? Which trainees need this and how much financial cost will be bear as well how
much this training is necessary for our business?

Need assessment process consist on organizational analysis, personal analysis and


task analysis and it has five steps of training need assessment:

A training need analysis expressed that Training


conductor should have knowledge about public safety, system language, transportation
knowledge, mechanical knowledge and transportation knowledge as well as
administration knowledge. A trainer should have the information of their learners, what
they have and what they should know to operate a new system. A trainer can collect
information from different techniques such as interview, collect questionnaire or survey,
observation and obtrusive measures. After collection of data a training conductor will
sum up the result and make the summary of results that how railroad union can train
their employees for specific new system.
