Many different skills are learned in nursing school and every RN knows how to do these

things upon graduation. Every registered nurse ensures that each patient receives direct care that

is conducted within the standards of care and hospital policies. They demonstrate appropriate

knowledge and skills to coordinate and evaluate patient care. They preform nursing visits within

scope of practice, and they assist with developing group visits. Nurses can also improve patient’s

health by teaching them emotional coping skills to handle stressful situations.

Registered nurses are required to have a minimum of an associate degree. A bachelor’s

degree can help get a better pay as a nurse. To get an associate degree in nursing some courses

needed to take are anatomy, nursing, nutrition, chemistry, microbiology, and others. Most people

choose to get an associate degree because it is the fastest path to becoming a registered nurse. A

bachelor’s degree takes four years at a college or a university.

Knowing how to communicate with others takes a big roll when it comes to nursing.

Nurses are responsible for relaying information to several individuals. Good written and verbal

communication is crucial to all involved. From patient intake to patient discharge all nurses must

communicate well to provide comprehensive care. All nurses must interact with the intent to

understand the patients concerns and experiences and be able to tell the doctor exactly what they

have been told.

Most RN are paid well, but it all comes down to employer type, education, work

experience, and specialty. The median expected salary for registered nurses is $68,450. A

registered nurse with multiple years of experience has a greater earning potential compared to a

new registered nurse. Education also plays a role on how well you get paid. BSNs are qualified

to work on a higher level than a RN, so they receive a higher salary.

Registered nurses do regular check-ups or treat people for an illness. They are usually

found in an operating room, doctors office intensive care, ambulatory care, and clinics. Dress

wounds, lab work, help doctors during exams and surgeries, and record patients’ symptoms are

just some few things RNs do. Every offices or hospital has different duties as to what a registered

nurse does. If working in a hospital a registered nurse is most likely to be working fast paced

rather then working in a doctor’s office.
