Eco-friendly engineering

Systems engineering has the power to create, plan, design and innovate
solutions that enable the union of information and communication technologies
for the sustainable development of communities that make possible a
transformation of people, organizations and cultures.

On these days where the world has to stay in home a clear example of how the
engineering allow many things continue is online studies, an excellent study
method, people can be trained through a virtual platform without leaving home,
two years ago El Espectador newspaper published a survey of people who
study online, and asked them for the reason why they decide to study a virtual
program. Nearly half of people decide to study a virtual program because they
have time to work too and just over twenty per cent has family responsibilities.

Engineering has reduced the use of paper to avoid cutting down trees, also we
develop technology for prediction of forest fires and now we can use alternative
energy sources, but in the same time we produce millions of electronical
devices without have a correct disposition for when they stop working and we
are creating mountains of technological trash.

And it means systems engineering or engineering in general has the power of

help or harm the environment, so I think the universities and colleges has to
educate engineers whit environmental and social awareness, for when they are
developing devices or software all the time they are thinking in the environment
and what them going to leave to the next generations.
