Republic Act No. 5737 also known as The Electronics And communication Law of the
Philippines was a Law for ECEE in Late 1960. It was approved June 21, 1969. Under this Law
there is no person can use the ECE without holding any valid certification of registration as
electronics and communication engineer issued by the Board. Certification of registration for
ECE must be issued to any applicant after passing the board exam and after paying all the
requirement fees. Only then the registrant can be entitled as an ECE. All the applicant of ECE
shall undergo to the technical examination in accordance with this act. In order to be admitted
the applicants must be 20 years of age, he is a citizen of the Philippines or an foreign country that
is qualified to take the exam, he has a good moral character and he is a degree holder of bachelor
of science in Electronics and communication Engineering. To pass the exam the candidate must
obtain an average of 70%, with no rating below 50% in any subject. If the examiner could not
obtain the passing percentage but at least obtain 70 % in half of a total subject taken, he can
retake the examination after two years of that examination. After 90 days commissioner of civil
service will announce the passer. The examiner only pay 90 pesos for the registration and 10
pesos for examination. The chair and members of the board are appointed by the President. Broad
members shall only be stay in position for 3 years. Board also receives a compensation fee for
every applicants and every certification of registration granted.
