The Teacher’s Diary

Being a teacher means learning until the end. You should not stop learning for your students. There are
different students and schools a teacher may assigned. And no matter how far is it, how complicated the life on
that place and no matter how many students you have, be their teacher that will guide them in their learning,
achievements and dreams.
Teacher’s Diary was a romantic comedy movie that will catch the attention of the viewers because of the
scenes the movie has. This movie was a great because it show the different life of a teacher in the rural area and
in the urban area. In connection to the pedagogy, I saw on the movie that even though we already have the
modern technology and we are on the 21 st century there are places that don’t have this technologies and cannot
reach what are the things taught in urban areas because their place was so far. I was so amaze on having a
school in the middle of the river and they call it houseboat. The first thing that comes in my mind when I saw
the school in the middle of the river is on how the teacher can teach the students if their school is on that place
and also how the teacher can manipulate different experiences to the students if they are surrounded by water.
What I been noticed in the houseboat school is that teacher Ana and Teacher Song show child-centeredness
while in the school in the urban area focus on the teacher-centeredness. Teacher Ana and Teacher Song taught
in the student’s the different ways on how they learn in just simple thing. The two teacher became the second
parents of the students in that place. I was touched on how the students wanted to learn and on how the two
teacher pursue on teaching the students in the houseboat. As I have noticed in the houseboat, their resources was
limited even though they have the recommended curriculum the school has many things that are needed by the
students to learn .they are lack of facilities and etc. I was also amazed on how Teacher Song manipulate the
teaching and learning process. The best scene in this movie I think was the time that there is storm and they
didn’t know what to do, the thing that Teacher Song can do is that to protect and be sure that all of his Students
are safe. And also the scene where Teacher Song teach and give the experiences to his student who did not ride
on the train. I was so amazed that Teacher song has his mind-set that his students will catch the lesson and will
learn and understand it if they experiences it.
As a future teacher, I need to understand that there are places that are destined for one teacher. Even if
the place was no electricity, has no signal and was so far to the civilization, as a teacher you must receive this
challenge because a teacher is a teacher there is no place, no time, no good situation that you will picked for the
school you wanted to teach with. Accept even though you are not sure with the place you will assigned because
place is not that a big hindrance for a teacher to teach if he/she really wanted to share his/her knowledge.
