Stranded: Not That Bad After All

It was morning. Prithvi was already awake. He was staring at the sea. I got up and moved towards
him. I joined the moment, “Can you believe all of this?” He softly spoke then turned his head to me,
“I just have 3 words. I don’t know. Let’s just hope to return soon.” I replied. We just gathered some
wood and necessities for survival. Had a camp fire. Stayed hungry because I’m a vegetarian, “You’re
veg right?” Prithvi said before I bit the fish, “Well…yeah. I guess you can live longer without food but
not without water.” I said and dropped the fish, “Here you can take it” I offered it to Prithvi,
“Thanks” he took the fish and immediately ate it up. “Right now, I would even live in a rundown
motel! Eat any cuisine. Just want something that is cooked!” Prithvi said, “Back in Dubai. At
restaurants we are like I want this, no that. But here? The menu is out of options.” I said gathering
warmth from the fire. “There is nothing to do so let’s just sleep.” Prithvi yawned.

Day 3. Not bad for two middle school students stuck in the middle of nowhere. Today we had to go
for a exploration around the island. Find some more food, water and supplies and possibly. The
gateway to relieve; home. After 1 hour of roaming around we found some sugar cane, “Hey! Found
something!” I shouted and Prithvi dashed to me, “Closest you can get to a cupcake!” Prithvi bit the
sugarcane. We took at least 10 of them back to the hut. We stored it over there only to find out that
a monkey was inside the hut, “Ah!!” Prithvi screamed! The monkey smiled and jumped inside,
“Monkeys copy what you do! Jump around then stop and walk outside!” I shouted. Prithvi followed
my steps and as soon as the monkey left we shut the door tight! Both of us panted like athletes after
a sprinting race. Suddenly we started to laugh “You know…surviving is not that bad…..after all….

Day 4. Today we decided to stay in the hut and eat sugar cane and water for lunch. In the morning I
drew a ‘help’ sign on the shore for any possible helicopters we encounter. We found an inflated
football deep inside the forest! “Although I hate football. Let’s just play a friendly match” Prithvi
kicked the ball and said. We played a game of pass to pass. Not great entertainment but it was fun.
We got tired so we sat in the hut and had our lunch, “Let’s just play ATLAS.” I suggested. An hour
was spent into that game. We also tried to make objects out of oak wood. Im not much of a designer
but we managed to make some deformed objects!

It continued like this for one day but things turned around….
