 How do People get addicted to Narcotics

 Peer Pressure:

A common motive for first time narcotics use is peer pressure. They desire (addicted

people) to ensure that those people may later develop to an addiction. Peer pressure is an

important factor when it comes to using narcotics. Most adolescent narcotic users are

introduced to this behavior by friends. The influence of peer pressure lessens as people

get older, but it can still have a large impact on people’s behavior. It is also usual for

addicts to belong to a group that supports this activity.

 Frustration and confusion:

It is well established that the effects of frustration or confusion can damage people’s

mental and physical well-being. One of the ways that the individual may attempt to

manage their frustration is by using narcotics. This type of self-medication can provide

temporary relief, but is ultimately self-defeating. The most common frustrations include:

 Death of a loved one

 Illness

 Overwork

 Poor time management

 Relationship breakdown

 Unemployment:

It may be common knowledge that more unemployed people have a problem with drug or

alcohol addiction than those with jobs. Unemployment obviously means a lower income
and possibly poverty. That lower income then increases a person’s risk to become

addicted to narcotics or develop a drinking problem.
