NHA Schoolwide Behavior System for Live Online Learning Sessions

NHA schools use the Schoolwide Behavior System to document student behavior and adult responses to
those behaviors. This document is intended to assist schools in translating the SBS to support classroom
management during live online learning sessions. Managing the virtual classroom requires teachers to
establish and communicate the classroom expectations, monitor student interactions in class, and hold
students accountable to the Student Code of Conduct and all related policies.

Minor to moderate impulsive misbehavior


LEVEL 1
i. Teacher reminds / redirects student in the virtual session
Repeated minor to moderate impulsive misbehavior OR minor to moderate intentional
misbehavior
i. Teacher documents incident in myNHA Behavior
LEVEL 2
ii. Teacher should check “Include in Parent Email” checkbox to notify the student and
parent/guardian of the written warning and an explanation of consequences that will
result from further violations
Repeated minor to moderate misbehavior, after receiving Level 2 intervention and disciplinary
action
i. Teacher documents incident in myNHA Behavior
ii. Teacher should check “Include in Parent Email” checkbox to notify the student and
LEVEL 3
parent/guardian of the infraction and provide explanation of consequences that will
result from further violations
iii. Teacher modifies student access in sessions(s) via online classroom management
tools (muting student in discussion, disallowing sharing privileges, etc.)
Chronic minor to moderate misbehavior
i. Dean develops Behavior Support Plan and determines if the student’s participation in
LEVEL 4
the remote learning digital option may be revoked, either temporarily or permanently
ii. Dean implements BSP and documents in myNHA Behavior
Severe misbehaviors that are not severe enough to be considered criminal OR repeated
Level 4 infractions
LEVEL 5 i. Dean documents incident in myNHA Behavior
ii. Dean suspends student’s participation in the remote learning digital option, either
temporarily or permanently
Serious intentional misbehavior that rises to the level of criminal action OR repeated Level 5
infractions
LEVEL 6 i. Principal documents incident in myNHA Behavior as a Level 5 pending Level 6
ii. Principal engages Response Team to determine disciplinary consequences, including
possible suspension or expulsion from school
