Aswan Workshops

February 13-19, 2019

The Aswan International Women Film Festival announces receiving


applications to join the workshops planned to be held during the 3rd
round of the festival slated to be held on February 13-19, 2019. The
festival's workshops aim at empowering youths in the community via
providing them the chance to express themselves through film medium
as a modern mean to express oneself. The workshops are open to males
and females who are in the age range of 7–35 years old and from Aswan
city or Upper Egypt region.

The workshops include:

Animation workshop for children

The workshop, organized in cooperation with Jesuit Animation


School of Cairo, will be held by producer, director and founder of Jesuit
Animation School Ibrahim Saad. The workshop aims at training children,
from 7 to 16 years old, on the making of animation films through special
and simple techniques.

Aswan workshop for animation

The workshop will be held by professor and producer Dr. Ashraf Mahdy.
It aims at training youths in the age range of 16-35 years old. The
participants will be trained on a number of techniques and how to
implement them on the paintings of a pioneer Egyptian female painter.

Documentary workshop

The workshop will be held by director Mahmoud Soliman who directed


and produced a number of short films and documentaries that were
awarded more than 65 prizes in various film festivals around the world.
His films include We Have Never Been Kids that was awarded 16 prizes.
His workshop will aim at training youths on documentary film making
from scratch until producing a short or long documentary.

Aswan screenwriting workshop


The workshop will be held by Wissam Soliman. She wrote a number of
films including In the Heliopolis Flat, The Best of Times and Factory Girl.
The workshop aims at training youths to write a screenplay from scratch
until the final draft. The projects will be discussed during the concluding
session of the workshop.

Short film making

The workshop will be held by director Aida el Kashef. The workshop aims
at training youths to make low-budget short films.
