When the shutdown of in-person classes began, my

principal charged all of the faculty at my school with
how distance learning is going to look. We had one
meeting on Friday when school was first closed and we
began online instruction on the following Monday. It
was a difficult task, but being as flexible as possible and
learning how to teach online with my best effort was the
duty I had as a teacher and the commitment that I have
to student learning. 5/1/20As part of the distance
learning, emails with assignments are sent to parents and
students with the day's assignments. Before these emails
can be sent out, however, all teachers had to send their
plans to me (as a homeroom teacher) so that I can collate
them and send them to parents. In this way , I was
holding the other teachers accountable for proper
communication with the middle school community.
I have been learning much about what the experience of
a middle school student is like inside of the classroom
and during distance learning. I have grown to appreciate
the unique nature of middle school and recognize the
importance of relationships with students, however, to
keep each relationship professional. 5/1/20
