Amit Jetha was born on 31 December in 1975 in Khambha, Gujarat and dead
on 20 july2010. Amit Jethwa was a social worker and environmentalist he
worked in the Gir Forest in Junagadh in Gujarat and he emotionally attached
with the lions and the environment. He was the founder President of regional
Local Youth Club which was named as Gir Nature Youth Club of young
environmentalist. This group was consisting of 400 members. The main aim of
these group is to protect the environment as well as the forest and to keep an eye
on illegal hunt and killing of animals. In 2007 in lion poaching case, Jethwa was
the first among the 400 members to blow the whistle on the mysterious deaths
of Lions in the Gir Forest. Later after sometime he crusade against the shifting
of lions to the Kuno Palpur National park which is situated in Madhya Pradesh.
He started a program which is called Mahiti Adhikar Nagrik Mandal. The main
motive of this group or this program is to aware people about use of new act.
Every month he organise a meeting in which no of people came and attend the
program in which he aware the people about the new Law or new act. He had
filled a number of RTI applications to inquiry the illegal activities of mining in
the protected forest area which is just outside the GIR National Park. In the year
2010 he also filled a Public Interest Litigation in the Gujarat High Court. With
the use of RTI he filled a file against illegal mining in the protected area in
several courts, by which some of the influential person of that area are included
and they were getting adversely affected. His fight against protection of forest
and illegal mining had become legendary in that area. In the beginning of the
month July 2010 he filled a case in Gujarat High Court against illegal mining
naming BJP MP Dinu solanki and his nephew Shiva solanki as the respondent
and after sometime on 20 July he was shot dead by two person who came on a
motorcycle when Amit Jetawa as leaving his lawyer complex, the two assailants
on a motorcycle shot him at close range with a country made pistol. They were
contract killer and the contract of killing Amit Jethawa was given by Dinu
Solanki and Shiva Solanki. On 6th of September police arrested Shiva Solanki
nephew of Dinu Solanki. After that the High Court directed or refer the case to
the CBI and in November 2013, Dinu Solanki was arrested by the CBI.

In 2010 Amit Jethwa was awarded by Special jury from NDTV environmental
awards “The greenies”.

In 2011 he was awarded by The National RTI.
