THE TREASURE TROVE OF SOUTHERN
LUZON

Under the Executive Order No. 103,


dated May 17, 2002, Region 4
(Southern Tagalog) was divided into
two—CALABARZON (Region 4A) & MIMAROPA
(Region 4B). Region 4b is envisioned
as the food basket for the country
and a haven for tourism, industry and
technology. It is composed of 2
cities (Calapan and Puerto Princesa
City) and 71 municipalities.

Also known as “Popoy”, he is the county’s
premier watercolorist. He has excelled in
variety of subjects: from semi abstract
scenery to cockfights, a baskets of fruits to
nameless naked women. He is well known
for his coral reefs.
He has exhibited his
works throughout the
Philippines and around
the world like Japan,
Spain, Belgium,
Malaysia, Thailand,
Indonesia, England, and
the US. His works
received positive
reception.

Marinduque who was admitted to Far
Eastern University’s Fine Arts program in
1995. His works are known to beckon a
world of social responsibility.
His works that are featured
in the Manila Bulletin
Lifestyle page were described
as “thoughtful, highly
imaginative and visually
engaging” and is also part of
the “Alamat: Bridge to the
Past” collection.

for their marble
crafts.

GONZALES
He was a Filipino novelist, short story
writer, essayist and, poet. Conferred as the
National Artist of the Philippines for
Literature in 1997.
While in Manila, González wrote
for the Philippine Graphic and
later edited for the Evening News
Magazine and Manila Chronicle.
His first published essay
appeared in the Philippine
Graphic and his first poem in
Poetry in 1934. González made his
mark in the Philippine writing
community as a member of the
Board of Advisers of Likhaan: the
University of the Philippines
Creative Writing Center, founding
editor of The Diliman Review and
as the first president of the
Philippine Writers' Association.
PALAWAN
CITY: PUERTO PRINCESA
NIL SENCILLO
He is a realist painter born in Puerto
Princesa and trained at FEU. He has
exhibited in one-person exhibitions since
the '70s. He works in oil and paints in a
traditional style depicting Palawan life and
people.
