Isometric Projections
Previously, isometric projections were given asking for orthographic views. Now, isometric
projections would be required from orthographic projections.
Isometric projections are three-dimensional representations of objects represented on a two
dimensional plane drawn to give some idea of the object’s depth.

2. From the given orthographic views, place the height, width and depth on each axes and
complete the isometric box which contains the object.
Note:
• The overall height can be obtained from the Front and End views.
• The overall width can be obtained from the Front and Plan views.
• The overall depth can be obtained from the End and Plan views.

3. Dimensioning and hidden lines are not required in isometric projections.

Drawing circles in isometric
A circle shown in orthographic projection takes the form of an ellipse when seen in isometric
projection. The ellipse can be drawn using the ‘A’ method below:
1. Draw the rhombus which contains the circle. The length of each side is equal to the
diameter of the circle.
2. Mark the mid point of each side.
3. Draw the longest diagonal.
4. Join point 1 to points a and b.
5. With 1 as center, draw arc ab.
6. With 2 as center, draw arc cd.
7. With 3 as center, draw arc ad.
8. With 4 as center, draw arc bc.
