My main interest is to understand at different levels computations in cognitive-dynamic

mechanisms. I still use expertise of my previous work of patent examiner as a patent
agent and to set-up technological innovation in the academia.

I am Electronic and Bio-medicine Engineer, with some works in instrumentation sensors

and mathematical models in simulation and experimental level, with a recent
development in extracellular action potentials in muscle fibers. And, I am interested in
do physics and applied mathematics to understand how is managed information and
behavior in cognitive systems composed by cells and organelles. During my PhD, I have
worked in some mechanisms behind attention orienting tasks combining information
theory and EEG experiment as well as fMRI. This was a collaboration between the
University of Dundee and Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh

Now, I am devoted to explain some mechanisms behind attention orienting tasks. This
project is a collaboration between as a Sinapse fellow, the University of Dundee and
Peruvian students which I am please to work. We are in the first steps to establish an
active collaboration research. During a visiting lecturership in Dundee in 2013, we have
setup a Linear Modelling analysis for EEG signals.

Collaborative research into the mechanism of attention control.

Analysis of Experiments in Auditory Attention was address to improve current
understanding of the control of stimulus-driven network when different novel stimuli
were presented. Done on Neuroscience group in the visiting research in Scotland on
September - November 2013.
Current analysis looks forward to study simultaneous EEG & fMRI experiment with 4
different conditions. This to study with 4 categorical variables plus continuos regressors
(EEG = β0 + ∑ βiSi + β5A5 + Error). The current explantation is with a reduced set of
categorical regressors, namely EEG = β0 + ∑ βiSi + β3A3 + Error
MAIN OUTCOMES:
Analysis of single subject answer to CTOA showed a characteristic signature for
attention control.

Writting patent applications: As a Patent Agent I try to work hand-in-hand with many
remarkable and inspiring inventors and the goal is get a good piece of writting that go
through to every patent stages without problems.

Review / answer to technical patent examiners: The examiner’s study is reported in an

Office Action mailed to the first inventor or his/her representative. If this study is
negative, the inventor/representative must answer with arguments and application
amendments in an attempt to rescue the patent patent application. This process,
known as patent prosecution, might last for many months or even longer and could
need many amendments. In this case, the goal is to generate an answer that fills out
all missleadings, reducing the amendments and assuring the patent to be granted.

I assessed applications for patents, which are granted to inventors, giving them the
right to stop others using, selling or making their inventions. I ascertained that the
invention is new, not merely an adjustment to something which already exists, carrying
out searches using in Perú and foreign patent specifications, technical literature and
databases. I had to be sure that an application meeted all the formal requirements of
The Peruvian Patent Office and was technically good. And, I developed specialist
expertise within a particular area such as a mix biotechnology and electrical
engineering.

MAIN OUTCOMES:
Around 250 technical patent examinations reported to the Patent Office.

My research could be divided in three parts. The first was, model the muscle fiber (FB)
located in a muscle, using an approximation in which the FBs are encircled with other
six FBs in the muscle. To reach this, concentric hexagons were constructed to build the
surface of the motor unit (MU), and later the FBs were situated in the MU, covering and
reproducing very well a range between 75 and 2000 FBs, corresponding to mammals
extremity muscles (presented at Bioinformatics conference, 2006). The second was,
measure and model the action potential in every FB following the Maxwell equations,
the novelties were a fast mathematical approach at the end of every FB, and modeling
of the electrodes located at distances greater than 1,79 mm of the FBs. And the third
was, model the MUAP, using both previous parts and the association and distribution of
the diameter FBs in the muscle which represents some tuned curves reported without
explain (presented at SPR meeting, 2008).
