Part 1: The local problem I chose was homeless.

The reason was that I

saw homeless people wandering in parks, streets, etc. during my study

abroad in Utah. I have rarely met such a group before, so I became

interested in them and wanted to tap their lives and the stories behind

them. So I started to study the local problem of homelessness. With the

deepening of my research, I found that the unemployed are only a small

part of the homeless, and the other part of them has a more heart-

wrenching story. Their homes were destroyed, their lives were deprived,

and they had no chance of choice. They were innocent. This bitter fact

shocked me. So I started to collect real data about refugees. I hope to let

more people see such artificial tragedies, and I put these real data on my

website: https://peoplemission.weebly.com/engl-2010.html.

In the course of my research on this issue, some changes have taken place

in my thinking. Before, I thought they were all innocent, and they had no

choice. But as I deepened the dialogue with my friends, I found that they

can also make changes by their own efforts and escape the plight of ruining

their families abroad. And they are just like ordinary people, and there are

good people and bad people.

The theme I chose is a profile, and the medium is text. I think there is a

good connection between because the profile I understand is to tell one or

more stories, can there be anything more suitable for telling stories and

conveying emotions and ideas than words?

As for my Persuasion Effect Project, I chose the form of pictures and text,

and the medium is the Internet. My consideration is that it may be difficult

for people to calm down and read a long text, but the picture can catch

people's attention.

The notebooks I choose are all about how to collect information, how to

research local issues, and do interviews. They are more to help me sort out

my thoughts, plan in advance how the specific content of the website is

distributed, and how to build the general framework of the website. It can

be said that the content of the notebook laid the foundation for the final

website and is a crucial step.

In terms of Peer Review, I did not do well enough for the first time. The

instructor gave me some suggestions, such as paying attention to the

details of the article. From this, my experience is that when I read the

articles of my peers, I should first read it roughly, clarify the framework of

the article, understand the theme of the article, and then focus on the

details of the article to find out which parts I admire, or It is strange and

uncomfortable to make suggestions to colleagues.

Part 2: For the sentence "Language and writing are resources people use

to do things, be things, and make things in the world.", My understanding is

that language is the most important communication tool, and people who

speak can often write chapters and write. People tend to write brilliantly.

People who can effectively use language as a communication tool will

communicate better with others, express their thoughts and emotions, and

display their personality and charm. The essence of the writing process is

exactly the special labor process in which the author uses language to

exchange ideas and disseminate information. Therefore, the relationship

between writing and language is inseparable, and language plays a very

important role in the writing process.

A language is a tool of thinking. Thinking is the content of language. There

is no thinking without language or language without thinking. The

relationship between the two is inseparable. When speaking a native

language, we will be extremely fluent, but when we speak a foreign

language, we will encounter phenomena such as "stuttering," and this is

precisely related to the pause or chaos of thinking. In addition, the "inability

to write" in the writing process is also often related to the difficulties and

confusion encountered in thinking. Therefore, the smoothness of thinking

affects the fluency of language, and the fluency of language can reflect the

smoothness of thinking. In the writing process, the author's writing thinking

will be expressed through his language, in whatever way, and in what

characteristics.

Generally speaking, thinking includes rational, logical thinking, and

perceptual image thinking. Because the thinking mode is different, the form

of language signs adopted by the author will also be different. Libertarians

are good at perceptual image thinking. In their thinking, everything is

spiritual, expressing emotion through scenery, embodying emotion in the

scenery, and blending situations. Therefore, the things they describe are

not only the things themselves but also the sustenance of images or

emotions. For example, in the Profile project, I clearly showed the

emotional thinking of the refugee problem:

As for the second sentence, "Rhetoric provides a method for studying the

work that language and writing do. I think this reveals the relationship

between rhetoric and language and writing. What I understand is that

writing is a way of expressing language, And the rhetoric is included in

writing, and excellent rhetoric is a manifestation of strong language ability

and writing ability. Rhetoric includes wording, which is the choice of words,
which has the characteristics of contextuality, writing, subjectivity, and

directionality. Rhetoric also includes figures of speech, which means that

we must choose accurate and appropriate metaphors to enhance the

appeal of the language. Figurative language often plays an extremely

important rhetorical role in prose, which is the most effective to make it

means specific One of the rhetorical means. A specific image is often used

to explain a simple and simple affair. The comparison of things depicts a

vivid picture for the reader. The more complex and abstract things or the

esoteric truth are more profound and impressive to the reader. Metaphor

Not only can help the author clarify the thought clearly and vividly, but also

can concretize the abstract concept. When I then, like movie reviews will try

to pay attention to the wording, easy to use short text delivered strong

emotions:
