Environmental Issues Today (Problem Solving)

We are currently facing the most critical environmental issues in human history. Our climate, planet,
lives, and future as a civilization are all at risk. While the thought of our mother earth slowly dying can
be extremely overwhelming, don’t allow yourself to feel helpless, not knowing where to begin. Making
small steps and adjustments in your daily lifestyle will give you a sense of success and a motivation to
change more.

There are countless of ways you could do to save the environment. Replace disposable items with
reusable

Anything you use and throw away can potentially spend centuries in a landfill.

Instead of buying plastic water bottles and throwing them afterwards try

carrying your own water bottle or tumbler to lessen the plastic wastes. Use airtight, reusable food
containers instead of sandwich bags and plastic wrap. Bring your own bags to the grocery store and
avoid using plastic bags because most plastic bags are non biodegradable therefore these are not
healthy for the environment. Try to use less paper as much as possible. We are living in the Digital Era,
where you can write down notes easily on your computer but think about all the paper products you use
in your daily life. These actions still align with reusing and repurposing, though may take a little more
time for transition. Also on that note instead of buying books, try reading online so that you want have
to waste anymore paper. Turn the sink water off when brushing your teeth to avoid wasting
water.Switch off anything that uses electricity especially when not in use in order to avoid wasting
energy. Unplug devices when possible even when an appliance is turned off, it may still use power

Recycle and recycle properly. Implementing recycling habits into your daily life is one of the most
effective ways to help lessen landfill waste, conserve natural resources, save habitats, reduce pollution,
cut down on energy consumption, and slow down global warming.

Overall just try and educate yourself about what can and cannot be recycled. Learn how to identify and
dispose of hazardous waste properly. Know the difference between recyclable, biodegradable and non
biodegradable. If only you'll learn then you'll truly make a difference even if its a small change.
Artificial Intelligence (Definition)

Computers are everywhere today. It would be impossible to go your entire life without using a
computer. Cars, ATMs, and TVs, we use then everyday. It is for this reason that computers and their
software must become more intelligent to make our lives a lot more easier and to improve the quality of
our lifestyle. Intelligent computer systems do benefit us all, however there are researchers that have
believed that making computers too intelligent can be to our disadvantage.

Artificial intelligence, or AI, is a field of computer science that attempts to simulate characteristics of
human intelligence or senses. It is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines,
especially computer systems.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent
machines that work and react like humans. Some of the activities computers with artificial intelligence
are designed for the purpose of solving problems.

The overall research goal of artificial intelligence is to create technology that allows computers and
machines to function in an intelligent manner. The general problem of simulating or creating intelligence
is that it might become too intelligent to the point where we are unable to control our own creation.

Computer science defines AI research as the study of 'intelligent agents' any device that perceives its
environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals. A more
elaborate definition characterizes AI as 'a system’s ability to correctly interpret external data, to learn
from such data, and to use those learnings to achieve specific goals and tasks through flexible
adaptation'
Noli me Tangere (Book Review)

In school, my teacher assigned us to memorize Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere that was written in Tagalog. We
were required to read this in high school. But back then I thought it was dry and boring. During Filipino
class, my mind wandered elsewhere. And as a result of my lazziness, I failed to appreciate it. But now
after reading the novel, I couldn’t believe the emotion that it stirred in me.

Noli Me Tangere is a love story. The setting is the 19th century in the Philippines, during the latter years
of the country as Spain’s only colony in Asia. It’s a love story not only between two individuals,
Crisostomo Ibarra and Maria Clara de los Santos, but also between the people and the motherland.

When I finished the novel, I felt a bit depressed. But that was just Rizal’s aim. He dedicated the novel to
his country. What he did, or what he promised to do, was hold up a mirror in front of Philippine society
and allow it to see the truth of its condition. The truth, as he saw it, was that the Philippines is being
eaten up by a social cancer. And his countrymen, unfortunately, are asleep. They needed to be
awakened from their slumber and see the real state of things so that they can find freedom and
happiness.

Before reading this book, I used to think that the misery that the Filipinos in Rizal’s time experienced
was simply inflicted by the friars and Spanish officials. In the Noli, however, it’s not as simple as that.
There was an interplay of the above factors. Indeed, many of the friars were corrupt, hypocritical, and
abusive, but many of the common people were not entirely blameless. Many of the latter were ignorant
of their own religion; they held superstitious beliefs alongside Catholic beliefs, even if the two are
incompatible. Many of the Filipinos were also passive and cowardly. When they witnessed injustices
done to their fellow indios, they did nothing out of fear.

I think that the Noli does not really indict religion, or Catholicism, itself. It only brings out as ugly,
dangerous, and destructive corruption and hypocrisy
Four Sisters and a Wedding is adamantly a comedy, one that uses unbridled exaggerations and popular
wit to earn chuckles. Along the way, it suddenly transforms itself into a drama, with each of the movie's
multiple characters getting their fair share of profusely teary expositions. At the end of the movie,
everything is wrapped up almost too neatly and easily with just mouthfuls of motherhood statements
that render all issues and conflicts resolved.

The movie's insistence to remain within the borders of a cinema that is stubbornly safe for the purpose
of commercialism is considered its downfall. Because it aspires to appeal to the majority, its story clunks
with unnecessary heft and it confuses with its inconsistent mood and temperament. However, to simply
dismiss the movie for its intention to comfortably exist in a market that knows fully well what it wants is
short sighted.

The Salazar sisters have been living their lives, connected only by occasional phone calls, until the
sudden upcoming wedding of their youngest brother forces them to reunite and join forces for what
they think is the good of their family. As it turns out, the Bayags, the family which the youngest Salazar is
marrying into, are as tactless as they are wealthy, convincing the sisters to plan together to dissuade
their beloved brother from continuing the wedding.

It is the movie's disarming earnestness that is truly admirable. At one point, the sisters suddenly
tearfully expose their failures and insecurities, probably in defense of their mostly despicable demeanor
throughout the movie. Garcia Molina forgets all notion of subtlety, allowing her actresses, all of whom
are brilliant, to emotionally verbalize regrets and apprehensions that most of us would never dare
expose. There are simply no pretensions of depth or insight as it specifically targets the heart, coursing
its way to it through its familiar tale whose threads and strands seem to be plucked straight from the
sometimes joyful and sometimes painful eccentricities of being a Filipino.
Ukay-Ukay Craze

Ukay ukay refers to secondhand apparels such as clothes, bags, shoes and other accessories are
being sold at a cheap, bargained price. Items sold at the ukay-ukay are commonly imported from North
American or European countries. Filipinos really like ukay ukay because they can buy and make money
of such cheap secondhand apparels. Ukay-ukay gives us ordinary people the chance to buy high-end
clothes at ridiculously low prices but you have to be conscious about brands and quality. In the age of
ukay-ukay, it doesn’t matter how expensive or how inexpensive your clothes and accessories are,
what’s important is how you wear them like you can rock any cheap outfits that will cost you 100 pesos.
This ukay ukay craze is improving by far, People will buy these second hand apparels on your local thrift
store if they will find high end brands they will sell it 5 times the prize They are called resellers. Many
people are joining the ukay ukay craze they can be a fashionista and make money at the same time. The
ukay trade, however, is not without its own issues of legality. In the ‘90s, an NGO received an unusually
large volume of garments as donations that were supposedly for the poor. However, in an investigation
by Newsbreak, the Department of Social Welfare and Development found it suspicious for this particular
NGO to be receiving two container vans of clothes monthly. Ukay ukay is a good thing for those who
want cheap but good and useful apparels just be cautious because there are also health hazards on
these ukay ukay. This craze will never stop because this will be a business to people this craze is a hobby
by many Filipinos. Ukay ukay is just amazing.
